Recorded in 2022. Nobody heard it until now.
Back in 2022 I sat down and recorded three and a half hours of myself working through what I had learned, out loud, with nobody listening. It sat on a drive for three years. This is the first piece of it.
In this one: the fifths and the gallons, and why the drinking was never really about the drinking. It was an alter ego, and it was doing a job. It lands on the line I still think about: it was either the liquor or life.
Then the back half turns to how a belief gets installed in the first place. Authority, intensity, repetition. That is the whole recipe, and once you see it you cannot unsee who has been cooking with it.
What is in this episode
The alter ego, and what the drinking was actually covering
"It was either the liquor or life"
How beliefs get installed: authority, intensity, repetition
Why most of what you believe about yourself, you never actually chose
Where this comes from
The thinking here is built on Maxwell Maltz and Psycho-Cybernetics. I credited him the day I recorded it and I am crediting him now. The difference is he watched it from across a desk. I lived it.
