KC Stayner is a trail runner based in Canyon Lake, Texas, near San Antonio. KC is a father of 5, the Director of Sales for Tyler Technologies, and my cousin-in-law!
KC has an extensive trail running background, including finishes at the Wasatch 100, Bandera 100k, and most recently at the Rocky Racoon 100 miler.
KC and his wife Hannah homeschool their children on their ranch/homestead in Texas. In this episode of The Headlamp Hour we talk about the balance between being disciplined and consistent in running but also being present as a father and a husband. February 05, 2024 Tyler Green and Rachel Drake - “I think we need a COUGAR in this house”
On this episode of the Headlamp Hour we talk with Tyler Green and Rachel Drake - the trail running couple sponsored by Nike and based in Portland Oregon.

In addition to trail running, Tyler is a high school cross country coach and Rachel just finished up medical school, but most importantly they are parents to their 16 month old boy Lewis!

On this episode we talk about Tyler and Rachel’s recent trip and races in Hong Kong, Tyler’s conservative and consistent but sometimes aggressive racing style, what their typical day looks like as parents, a coach, and a recently minted doctor. We talk about Tyler’s spirituality and love for reading. We discuss Rachel’s Olympic trials qualifier but her decision to ultimately focus on the trails and go Golden Ticket hunting instead.

We also discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with being a sponsored married couple. We finish up by talking about Rachel’s upcoming race at the Black Canyon 100k, and where they might end up for Rachel’s medical residency training. I hope you enjoy the conversation!

Originally from Whakatane New Zealand, Dan Jones now lives and spends most of his time in Wellington, NZ with his fiancee Michelle
Because of our mutual friendship, for this episode I brought on a special co-host, Hayden Hawks!
In this conversation we talk about Dan’s amazing breakout 2023 season, including 1st at Tarawera 100k on home soil, a 5th place finish at Western States, and an impressive 12th place finish at UTMB just weeks later.
We also go into Dan’s background with multisport, including a win at the prestigious Coast-to-Coast on a father-son team when Dan was back in high school.
Later on in the conversation we discuss how Dan thinks about sponsorship opportunities and challenges, and what he’s doing besides standing on podiums to build his brand as an athlete.
We finish off talking about his plans to do the Western States-UTMB double again and how he plans to best his already amazing performances from last year.

On this episode of the Headlamp Hour we talk with Summer and Christian Allen - The amazing all-american duo and parents of two, soon to be three! We discuss how they met at Weber State University, how they continued to compete and become All-Americans while raising their first child. We ask Summer what it’s like to go from running in the Olympic trials to being a mom and running during and after pregnancy and how she and Christian balance life as parents and competitive athletes. We talk about how Christian and Summer both competed in the Snowbird and Alta Cirque series, Christian’s win at his debut 50k at Speedgoat this past summer and his marathon olympic trials qualifying performance at CIM just a few weeks ago. We talk about how Christian plans to finish up his NCAA eligibility at BYU for the indoor and outdoor track seasons in 2024 then sign a professional contract, and how Summer plans to get back at it on the competitive running scene postpartum.
