Carly Donovan is 38 and from Essex. She had her implants for 8 years and started developing symptoms after 4 years. For the 3 years prior to explant she was often bed bound and misdiagnosed many times. She tells us her story from BII to recovery.

Abbie & Debbie speak with Dr David Rankin who specialises in explant surgery in Florida.

Dr Rankin is currently Chief of Plastic Surgery at St. Mary’s Medical Center and is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a strong believer in BII and now focuses on explanting patients. In this episode he describes his journey with breast implants and how that has developed over time through his discoveries and discussions with patients.

Abbie & Debbie are joined by Emmerdale actress Lucy Pargeter who discusses her experience with Breast Implant Illness.

Lucy has portrayed Chas Dingle in Emmerdale for 20 years and in 2017 she finished 3rd in I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! Lucy has had two boob jobs, the first aged 21 and her second aged 32 and in this episode she describes the instant relief she felt once she had them removed.

In the episode they discuss the effects BII had on Lucy, the hilarious game she now plays with her implants and she shares the shocking story of what happened to one of her implants during a night out.

Presenters Abbie Eastwood & Debbie Mac met through their experiences with Breast Implant Illness (BII) and have come together to raise awareness of the illness for women who don't know that their implants could be causing them to feel ill. Whilst there isn't an official medical diagnosis for the condition, thousands of women across the world suffer with BII and The Heal is Real offers a safe space for those who believe they are one of them. We speak to women who have come through the other side of BII whilst also chatting with medical professionals who give their view on the effects implants can have on women and the options available to them.
