Hill College has so much to offer our community that my interview with President Pam Boehm took an entire episode to fit everything in. This is an episode you won't want to miss and will have you scrambling to their website for more information on their academic programs, continuing education, sports, performances, and so much more!
Join us for episode five as we interview Hillsboro's Chief of Public Safety and Assistant City Manager, Tony Cain. We discuss what it has been like to run a police and fire department over the last year and then we talk about some of the other departments he oversees, such as parks, recreation, the airport, the shop, and much more. Then we continue looking at Hillsboro's connections to the John F. Kennedy assassination through the story of Dallas police officer and Hillsboro native, J.W. Foster.
Join us this month as we visit with Sanjay Bala from Hill Regional Hospital and learn about how he and his sister, Raji Kumar, were able to rescue the hospital from closing in 2020 and how they have basically created a brand new hospital in Hillsboro. Then we will look into a short history of the life of Hillsboro native, Dr. Red Duke.
This month our conversation is with Hillsboro City Library Children's Librarian, Justin Dyer. Listen to the amazing activities the library is offering for kids this Summer and some amazing programs available to our community. Then, we talk about the history of the Andrews Cafe and the memories of its food and famous patrons.
This month's episode features an interview with Hillsboro Independent School District Superintendent, Vicki Adams. Then, we learn about Hillsboro's connection to the first PTA in Texas and some pretty amazing musicians born and raised right here in Hillsboro. Don't end the podcast without listening to the details of upcoming events. Things are really getting going downtown in the month of May!
In our first episode, we sit down with Hillsboro, Texas City Manager, Megan Henderson, to discuss the "Snowpocalypse" and the difficulties with improving the city's infrastructure.
We also discuss her vision for Hillsboro.
The episode closes out with a random fact about Hillsboro and a dive into the historical connections between Hillsboro and Hollywood.
