Nehemiah finishes with an unexpected and disappointing end.  Upon Nehemiah's return, he finds Israel had returned to the very things that landed them in exile originally.

In Nehemiah chapters 10-12 we see Israel renew their covenant with God and celebrate the great transformation with worship.

Nehemiah 9 recounts the history of Israel's unfaithfulness and the mercy and grace of God.  It highlights the need for a Saviour realised in Jesus.

Restoration and revival comes through the Holy Spirit working through God's word

The fear of men, consequences, the fear of being in need and the fear of death can stop us in our tracks and cause us to not follow God.  Nehemiah chapter 6 looks at how Nehemiah handled external opposition, which was trying to incite fear in him to stop the building of the wall.

We have a choice in opposition to either have faith in God or succumb to fear.  The opposition to Nehemiah points us to the opposition that Jesus endured to restore the broken wall between us and God.
