Hey friends —
Let’s talk about labels.Specifically, the ones that sound empowering… until you realize they’re not.
“Female Entrepreneur.”“Mompreneur.”
Cute, right?Except every one of those words comes with a hidden cost.
Because when you put “female” or “mom” in front of “entrepreneur,” you’re telling the world that this person is different.Unusual.Not the default.
And that one word changes everything — from how investors describe you, to the interest rate you get, to how seriously people take your business.
It’s not just sexism; it’s economics. We’ve been branded into smaller boxes — literally.
Women own nearly 40% of U.S. businesses, but bring in less than half the revenue of men-owned ones. Not because we’re less capable — but because we’re still treated like a niche.
So here’s my challenge to you:The next time someone calls you a “female entrepreneur,” just smile and say —“No. I’m an entrepreneur.”
Because we don’t need extra labels to prove we belong. We built the table.
