  • 390: Leigh Martinuzzi – Self-Importance, Expression, & Creating Positive Change
“A man wrapped up in himself makes a very small parcel.” John Ruskin

Most of us believe so strongly in our self-importance, including me, that we often become disillusioned by it. We can find ourselves thinking, saying and doing all that is not really necessary nor important as it comes to living a life with passion and purpose.

We try to create a sense of self-importance by validating our beliefs in behaviors through external recognition. This can pull us away from living with integrity and congruently with we value and our why.

We are important but perhaps not as important as we think. When we appreciate this we can start responding to life in an authentic manner. Humbly expressing ourselves more truly. We become more of positive value in others’ lives and in doing create more positive change in our own. This episode explores these thoughts. Enjoy!

  • 387: 3 Minute Thought, Andon – “Pull the Cord.”
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to reform (or pause and reflect).” Mark Twain

Andon is a Japanese manufacturing term referring to a system to notify management, maintenance, and other workers of a quality or process problem.

It is a process that allows any worker at any time to press a button or use the pull cord to activate an alert that something is wrong. It was a means to improve productivity.

I think there is an important lesson as it relates to life. We often get so caught up in the business of life that we don't pause to reflect and reassess. We also go about dealing with our troubles without the courage to ask for help.Enjoy this thought!

You have the power and the time to shape your life. Break free from the poisonous victim mentality and embrace the truth of your greatness. You were not meant for a mundane or mediocre life!” Steve Maraboli

  • 382: 3 Minute Thought – Want to know what’s holding you back?
“What’s holding you back is the thought that something is holding you back.” Ralph Marston

If you wish to understand what’s holding you back. Holding you back from starting that project. Holding you back from finishing a project. Holding you back from achieving a goal, making a change, finding love, making some more money – holding you back from happiness.

Then ask yourself this questions, “What’s holding me back from…?”

We are often the limit to our progress. When you ask yourself this question you need to do the work to search for the answer. And there is one rule in answering this question - the answer cannot be reliant on external conditions. More money, more time, more (fill in the blank).

There is something we can all do to really make headway towards what we desire and will find the answer if really matters. Maybe we are already aware.
