His studio creations and energy behind the decks are a direct reflection of this personality. Equal parts groove, melody and eccentricity the Dutchman avoids jumping on electronic music bandwagons at all costs. “I could make club music fodder all day, but that would just bore me shitless. I like to challenge myself and my audience a bit more than that!” says Mason on his production ethos.

You may know Mason from his breakout single back in 2007 (‘Exceeder’), yet he would be the first to tell you that things have moved on a hell of a lot since those times. The boy has released three fully-fledged artist albums featuring a plethora of guest artists. Recent partners in crime include Dragonette, Jack Garratt, Stefflon Don and Alex Clare.

On todays show I caught up with White Gold. Hailing from the Bronx, White Gold’s penchant for witty songwriting and melody is a refreshing approach to the genre. So much so he’s become a go-to collaborator for the biggest hip hop artist of all time, Eminem. Having wrote and sung on 5 songs in the last few albums, Habits comes in as the latest hit in their collaborative discography. White Gold also produced that record. He rounds off his contribution on the album with an ear-worm of a hook on Bad One. His previous efforts are You Gon’ Learn and the controversial Zeus which Eminem took a jab at Snoop Dogg.

This year marks the year White Gold will introduce people to his own music and put out projects that is sure to impact the genre.
