Coming up on today's show I caught up with Bag of Tricks Cat. He is one of many talented artists in his family and is inspired by his grandmother, Ann Bennett, a jazz singer who performed the original theme for the cartoon "Felix the Cat". She even taught him to read and provided guidance on performing and navigating the music industry.
Active in hip-hop since 2012, Bag of Tricks Cat made his proper debut two years later with "The Cat That Never Came Down", an EP he promoted in the U.K. by touring with Philadelphia's own and guest of the podcast Mega Ran. The two rappers subsequently teamed up to record "Emerald Knights": This was followed up in 2016 with the solo release "Cat's Out of the Bag", with features from Mega Ran and D12, among several others. Dropping in 2019 he dropped another EP with the likes of his grandmother and Smoke DZA. The eight-track set, titled "Felix Shevrolet" featured Ann Bennett on its last two songs.
If you still aren't convinced 3 of his albums have charted on Billboard.

Coming Up on today's show I caught up with the great King Elle Noir. In a turbulent year she has emerged as one of LA’s most intriguing new acts, crafting an impressively original sound, while penning hits for stars like Wale, Tommy Lee and the Pussy Cat Dolls, all while defying a fatal disease.
By just 18 King Elle Noir had beaten kidney cancer, run away to Nashville and scored a country hit for Marie Osmond. Sensing even bigger things ahead, she moved to LA, quickly becoming an in-demand songwriter with Saweetie, IV Jay, Itzy, Polow Dadon and many more. In 2017 she received devastating news - a new chronic illness had claimed a kidney and would now have her on dialysis three times a week. This would have broken many artists, but, as she'd proven before, she didn't come this far just to give up.
Instead King hunkered down with LA’s top producers, crafting an enigmatic, genre-bending sound. Melding urban beats with gorgeous melodies and her own brand of IDGAF pop/rap instincts. The result is hilarious and heart-breaking, pure honesty silkily wrapped in alternative ear-candy. King Elle Noir has arrived with a message, no matter what, we can all anoint ourselves Kings of our own destiny.
