Episode 4 is about a serial killer in Howard County, Nebraska.  She lived only about 10 miles from where I grew up.  Who would ever imagine that there was a serial killer in Dannebrog, Nebraska?  We discuss the happenings and confession of serial killer, Della Sorensen.  Little did I know when I started looking into this story, Della was related to your narrator.  Stay Curious!

Episode 3 – Aliens in Rural Nebraska

This episode takes us to Dundy County, Nebraska in 1884 when they had a crazy alien sighting by a group of cowboys heading out for a local roundup.   The details of the crash landing and multiple witnesses (including a couple who were severely hurt) were documented well.

In this episode, we are going out to the eastern part of the United States in the Green Mountain National Forest in the lovely state of Vermont to look at what some locals believe is a mystery similar to that of the Bermuda Triangle.  This area has been coined, the Bennington Triangle.  This name was first used by New England author, Joseph A. Citro.  Citro described the area as the woodlands around Glastenbury Mountain that includes the towns of Bennington, Woodford, and Shaftsbury.  There are also two ghost towns in this area, Somerset and Glastenbury.  Why call out this area?  Well, it got most of its attention when 5 people went missing in the area from 1945 to 1950.  Further investigation into this area, however, shows us that there have long been mysterious happenings in this area.  Everything from a “wild man” or bigfoot sightings, UFO sightings, and of course, many missing people.  Some say as many as 40 people have gone missing in this area over the years.

We will tell the tale of Faceless Fred, a ghost that haunts the Speakeasy near Sacramento, Nebraska.   Fred lived in the area in the late 1800s and was known to be a philanderer.  Well, it eventually caught up with him.  Now, he still tries to find ladies, but it a much different form.

Welcome to The Historian’s Miscellany.  You are invited to listen to this collection of interesting tales of mystery.  The stories will involve missing persons, ghosts, strange phenomena, unsolved murders & other mystifying stories.  Most will be true.  Some will be speculation.  Others will simply be just plain ole good entertainment.  Our miscellany will focus on areas mostly off the beaten path.  You know, in those areas where you need to drive an hour to get to a Wal-Mart or where cellular service is a luxury.  The method of storytelling will vary.  On some episodes, I will do my best to convey what truth has already been uncovered.  With others, I will work to put my own twist on the tale.  Frankly, I just want to give you an easy way to be entertained about subjects that make me stop and think.

I look forward to sharing these tales with you and adding some flavor to them.   The plan is for the show’s first episode to be published by March 1, 2022 with 1-2 episodes a month, depending on my work schedule and the holiday or vacation seasons.  I am going to start with a story less than 10 miles from where I am currently residing.
