In this episode of unsung heroes, we delve into the the story of Samuel Adams and some of the basic ideas that he defended as a founding father, or grandfather if you will, of the United States. He defended ideas that were uncommon at the time: the Enlightenment principles of the right to "life", "liberty" and "property". These are ideas that philosophers like Locke, Rousseau, Montesquieu and Paine defended. These are the same ideas that were integral to the founding principles of the United States. I go through these ideas because I believe they are important especially in the society that we live in that abandons these essential principles. He was influential in the founding documents of the United States and also had a way with words that would make someone want to pick up a pen and write themselves.

This episode delves into the life of Robert, Morris, Financier of the American Revolution. There was a period in which he was on his own back essentially just using his own funds to give Washington's troops Money, munitions, ships etc. Because of his lucrative business, it allowed him to gain a seat in the Second Continental Congress and eventually become the Superintendent of Finance(Secretary of the Treasury) under the articles of Confederation. Unfortunately for having such a successful business and life, he eventually ran into financial troubles that finished his career and eventually he died, near penniless and left with a 5 line obituary.

In this episode, we are going to look at the lasting effects of the communist revolution that was started back in the 19th century, actually took physical place with the Russian Communist Revolution leading to humanitarian disasters such as Holodomor and now, we are going to take a look at another event in history that most probably don't know and that has to do with Mao and his communistic regime trying to advance China, causing the Great Famine. This lead to 45 million deaths(most historians agree on this number) and the implications of this really are still being felt today in some ways. You will also learn about the motivations behind the desire to progress China forward, Mao's support for Stalin and Khrushchev and finally failure to admit his error in the projections of production in the project.

This unsung heroes story goes into the details that were the life events of the World War 2 Hero, Desmond Doss. From his humble beginnings in Lynchburg, Virginia to his heroic feats on Okinawa, Guam and Leyte. Doss was a "conscientious cooperator" that, despite his faith, had the courage to risk his life for his men for the defense of American values in the second world war. He not only is credited with the saving of 75 men over a period of 12 hours without any weapons, and under horrible fire. Yet it was his faith he said that helped him make it through those moments. He not only earned 2 Bronze stars, he also earned Medal of Honor, the first as a conscientious objector and the only one in World War II. This unsung heroes episode goes into depth about the major feats of Alvin York, a decorated WWI soldier that essentially single-handedly captured 132 German Soldiers on an offensive in the waning days of WWI. From his early life to conversion and then combat, his life was known for his convictions that extended to not only being a patriot for his country, but also being true to His God. His life, that extended beyond World War I Service changed many and even led to the creation of the Alvin C. York Agricultural Institute. York is one of my favorite WWI heroes to speak of. Famine. Starvation. Suffering. Death. These are just some of the ideas explored in this episode. More specifically we will discuss the events surrounding the Ukrainian Genocide during the Communist regime under Joseph Stalin. In this episodes you will learn the background of Stalin himself, but furthermore, the ideas that led him to plan and deliberately execute the Holodomor against the "Kulaks". The implications of this event lead to 4.5 million deaths in Ukraine and 1.5 million deaths in Kazakhstan. Furthermore, after the events that happened in this genocide, what then happened in the world and the response that occurred in this situation leading into the modern era. I consider this to be a powerful episode in that I have never known much of what I am talking about today until about 2 months ago. With that I consider it my duty to share with you all important events that have shaped our understanding of human nature and the drive for power.

In this interesting episode of Unsung Heroes, we speak about Booker T. Washington and his contributions to the development of the Tuskegee Institute and his theories regarding black progression during the Jim Crow Era. He is fascinating to delve into his story because he is the prime example of one, who went from becoming a slave to being a free man and was a proponent of the black population during segregation working and gaining skills through education, trades and manners. He had a well known ideological difference with renown WEB Du Bois on the ideas surrounding segregation and Jim Crow. He was more on the side that in order for blacks to progress it required the immediate integration due to the idea that blacks are being degraded within this state of segregation and Washington was more for the idea of gaining skills that would make them useful to the American economy, with integration to come once it was proved. I loved doing this episode, and I hope you enjoy the information it gives.

This episode will highlight the strong will and powerful rise of Shaka Zulu, the man who really transformed the whole Zulu empire in South Africa during the 19th century. The story is fascinating as his whole story came about as a result of an illicit affair. Later, rejected by his father, he had to leave with his mother to go back to her native village for safety. He later became a strong warrior that changed the Zulu nation forever. I really enjoyed studying for this episode and I hope that this will be really interesting for you as well.

In this episode, you are going to learn about the Russian Revolution of 1917. The chain of events in this episode of history not only led to the creation of the Soviet Union, but it also created the first communist state in the world at the time. the rise of communism as a political belief started to gain more traction as the ideas regarding communism as a political ideology. This episode goes in depth on the situation of Imperial Russia before the revolution, the 1905 Revolution and the 1917 Revolution which eventually led to the creation of the Soviet Union with Lenin as its dictatorial head. I really enjoyed doing my research for this episode as learning about this topic surrounding the rise of communism during the 20th century really started to interest me. This unsung heroes episode delves intro the story of Geronimo, a great American who defied the American push to take his land in the 1850s-80s. His life started to become well known in his strong defiance that he put up against the American and Mexican Military that led to him becoming a newspaper sensation. The incredible resistance that he put up led to him being pursued by 1/4 of the U.S. standing army at the time and eventually his desire just to be back on his native lands did get granted, but only 4 years after his death. The story of Geronimo is quite epic as he spent most of his life avenging the loss of his family in pursuit of liberty and freedom for his people.
