Controversial from the start, the show inspired important discussions about topics like body shaming and female friendship; however, the cast was only marginally more diverse than The Mayflower. When Girls did represent people of colour, there were times it veered into the territory of casual racism. So, does Girls hold up? The answer is complicated!
