What if a single moment could completely change the way you see life, death and your own purpose?
In this powerful two-part conversation, internationally renowned performance coach, bestselling author and former world-ranked tennis player Dave Austin shares the extraordinary experiences and insights that have shaped his life and work.
Known around the world for helping elite athletes, business leaders and high achievers perform under pressure, Dave has spent decades exploring the relationship between the mind, resilience and human potential. But behind his success lies a deeply personal story that few people know.
In these episodes, Dave speaks openly about his own near-death experience (NDE) and the profound impact it had on his understanding of consciousness, fear, love and what it truly means to be alive. He reflects on how this experience transformed not only his outlook on life, but also the way he coaches others to move beyond limitation and embrace their fullest potential.
Joining Dave for this conversation is holistic funeral director and end-of-life practitioner Holly Lyon-Hawk, whose work supporting people and families through death offers a unique perspective on many of the themes explored.
Together they discuss the following:
This is not simply a conversation about death. It is a conversation about living with greater awareness, gratitude and authenticity.
Whether you are interested in personal growth, high performance, spirituality, near-death experiences or the deeper questions of human existence, these two episodes offer a fascinating and deeply moving exploration of what may lie beyond our ordinary understanding.
A rare opportunity to hear one of America's most respected coaches speak candidly about the experience that changed his life forever.
About the Host
Holly Lyon-Hawk is a holistic funeral director, ceremonial care of the body specialist, end-of-life doula, educator, speaker and founder of the International Institute for Supported Ceremonial Care.
For over a decade, Holly has walked alongside hundreds of families as they faced death, grief and profound change. Her work has taken her into homes, hospices, hospitals, woodlands and natural burial grounds, helping people rediscover something that modern society has often forgotten - that death does not have to be hidden away, feared or rushed through.
She believes that ritual matters. That caring for the body after death can be a final act of love. That grief deserves space. And that when we are willing to look mortality in the eye, life itself becomes richer, deeper and infinitely more precious.
On No One Gets Out of Here Alive, Holly brings together honest conversations about death, dying, grief, spirituality, love, purpose and what it truly means to be alive. Through interviews, stories and reflections from her own work, she explores the questions we often avoid but that connect every one of us.
Whether you're caring for someone at the end of life, grieving a loss, working in healthcare, or simply curious about the human experience, this podcast offers a gentle place to reflect, learn and remember that none of us walks this path alone.
The reality that no one gets out of here alive isn't a reason for despair. It is an invitation to live more fully, love more deeply, and leave nothing important unsaid.

No One Gets Out of Here Alive exists because conversations about death, grief, love, loss and what it means to be human matter.
Every episode is independently created, researched, recorded and edited with the hope of making these often difficult conversations more accessible and less frightening. My aim is simple: to help people feel a little less alone when facing death - whether that is their own, someone they love, or the loss of an animal companion.
If you have found comfort, inspiration or hope through the podcast and would like to support its future, donations are deeply appreciated. Your contribution helps cover the very real costs of production, including recording and editing software, hosting platforms, technical equipment, travel, and the time needed to create thoughtful, high-quality conversations.
More importantly, your support helps these conversations reach more people and contributes to a culture where talking about death is no longer something we avoid, but something that helps us live more fully.
There is absolutely no expectation to donate - simply listening and sharing the podcast with others is a wonderful way to help. But if you would like to become part of supporting this work, I would be incredibly grateful.

“Grief is not a feeling; it is a capacity. It is not something that disables you; we are not on the receiving end of grief; we are on the practising end of grief.”
- Stephen Jenkinson, Die Wise: A Manifesto for Sanity and Soul
The first of a thought provoking two part chat with the world renowned author, storyteller, musician and culture activist,Stephen Jenkinson, MTS, MSW . In 2010, he founded Orphan Wisdom, a house for learning skills of deep living and making human culture that are mandatory in endangered, endangering times.
“Dying is active. Dying is not what happens to you. Dying is what you do. Dying”
- Stephen Jenkinson, Die Wise: A Manifesto for Sanity and Soul
Die Wise – A Manifesto for Sanity and Soul is Stephen Jenkinson’s book about grief and dying and the great love of life. Published by North Atlantic Books.
Stephen's book, Die Wise, does not offer seven steps for coping with death. It does not suggest ways to make dying easier. It pours no honey to make the medicine go down. Instead, with lyrical prose, deep wisdom, and stories from his two decades of working with dying people and their families, Stephen Jenkinson places death at the centre of the page and asks us to behold it in all its painful beauty. Die Wise teaches the skills of dying, skills that have to be learned in the course of living deeply and well. Die Wise is for those who will fail to live forever

Rosie Inman Cook of http://www.naturaldeath.org.uk and the Association of Natural Burial Grounds's first of a three-part podcast will walk you along a heart-to-heart journey of life into death, perhaps to begin to plant seeds of preparation in plenty of time for death.
Did you know you can have the choice of a home burial or woodland ending?
An empoweringly honest and eye-opening conversation that may surprise you at times and will reassure you the whole way through.
Rosie has her feet firmly in the importance of families having a time rich experience
So give yourself some time perhaps with a cup of tea to hear Rosie and Holly having a refreshingly real conversation about unexpected subjects like
"The Mortuary express"
How to keep a "well-behaved" dead body at home.
The great “leave the land for the living” swindle.
"Doing your driving test having never driven a car"
Or even digging graves when heavily pregnant! Yes, you read that right!
"Two impressively wise individuals talking naturally about burials.
Who have the knowledge and wisdom of our ancestors to shed light onto a subject that’s so often kept in the dark.
Dispelling myths and unearthing truth.
Bring peace of mind to the facts of death by educating yourself with part one of this podcast.
The third of three deeply responsible and informative conversations between two very wise women who walk the life-to-death path with knowledge and ease."
Caroline James.

Having cared lovingly for her own father before and after he died, Claire understood the benefits and deepest healing experience creating a home funeral "only with love" can bring. In this episode, we hear from Claire, MBE, founder of Only With Love; we hear about her work and her story. We see the accessibility to being vulnerable, and it’s okay to feel a certain way and to feel able to be honest about the support that is needed when going through this time. For more information see the link below for her website: https://www.onlywithlove.co.uk/
