God brought her up the stairway inch by inch. As she became more faithful, God moved in bigger ways. Even in worldly ways, these two actions helped God clear her plate. He showed her fellowship with moms, brought her to His word, she sought and knocked. Became grateful. Wrote the devotional. Shared at conference May 2025 - women testified how it helped. Pastor saw it, asked for sermon, published his book. God kept showing what wasn't serving her.

WHERE SHE IS NOW: Most unknown time of her life, doesn't know how things will work out. But centered in the Lord, not worried. God gave her the podcast to reach people in whatever season. People she's known for years reaching out about her faith - they want this kind of love too. God trusted her to start discipling people.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STRIVING AND SURRENDERING

Today's episode reveals what happens when you stop trying to figure everything out alone and start listening for God's instruction while you do the work.

After becoming a mother, Desiree's relationship with her work changed. For 7 years she'd been passionate about the company she helped build. But now? She didn't feel as dedicated. Yet she had a baby - she needed to provide.

So she asked God: "Which direction should I go? I have so much history here. But is this where I'm supposed to move into now?"

She kept working while waiting for the answer. But the work that used to excite her felt like a foreign language she couldn't comprehend anymore. Like amnesia. She used to speak it fluently - with passion, focus, momentum. Now she could barely keep up. The team noticed but gave her space.

Then she started writing the devotional book. Got excited. Built momentum. Had drive. She realized: I still have this in me. But God was redirecting it, calling her to true surrender - trust Him to leave everything for the unknown.

The Casino: She thought God blessed her with $5 for a jackpot. Got emotional planning what she'd do for God with the winnings. Got to the casino - the machine she'd played for 10+ years was GONE. God removed it. His provision wasn't the jackpot - it was removal. The $5 went to the homeless man. The $542 came without gambling.

Her Mom's Death: She hoped for a miracle - that her mom would choose to end hospice and keep living. Hoped that by going, her mom would be able to talk. Hoped she'd still be here today. But when she got there, her mom couldn't speak. October 31, 2023, she passed. God didn't extend life - He took her home. His provision was mercy and peace, not the miracle she wanted.

Part 1 - From Worry to Action: Desiree was worried about finances. Her new salary would be HALF what she'd been making. Instead of spiraling in worry, she took action - set up her budget for the rest of 2025, did the math, made the plan. She became relieved: they could take care of all they needed. She praised God. And because she was obedient - took action instead of being consumed in worry - God provided one more check with her old salary. A bonus she wasn't expecting.

Part 2 - The $5 to $542: That weekend she wasn't feeling well. Laid down. Read in devotional: "Do it anyway through the pain. Take action." So she started packing closets. Found 5 single dollar bills. Thought God blessed her for casino jackpot. Got to casino - machine she'd played 10+ years was GONE. God removed it. Put $5 in car, forgot about them. Desiree shares a powerful story from 2016-2017. She'd been working at the same place for 12 years, building her career from high school into a management position. But she and her boss were arguing constantly about how things should be done.

June 8, 2016: She had a moment thinking about going on the road, traveling, making a documentary. It felt liberating. She saw the writing on the wall: I have to get out of here. So she declared: Within a year, I will not be working here anymore.

May 1, 2017: An opportunity came to travel and create content. It meant leaving all responsibilities, everyone she was caring for, the security of a paycheck. She told her boss she'd leave at the end of the month.

June 8, 2017: Exactly one year after declaring it, she was on the road. Excited for the unknown. At the time she didn't know God was still with her - but looking back now, she sees it clearly.

She traveled for 5 weeks. Things didn't go as envisioned but taught valuable lessons. Her mom was supportive, understood the road brings clarity. But other people kept asking: "Are you making money? What are you going to do?"

Here's how she knows God had her: Every time they were about to run out of money, God provided exactly $60. Not $100, not $50 - sixty dollars. The PERFECT amount to get to the next place. Every single time.

After 5 weeks she returned to Vegas, dabbled in entrepreneurship, drove for Lyft for 9 months. She learned: not a full-time road person, values a consistent place to sleep, bathroom/shower are luxuries she doesn't take for granted. Lessons she still carries in 2026.

From the outside it looked crazy, irresponsible, foolish. But God had her the whole time.
