Martha’s work wasn’t the problem. The distraction came when serving filled her attention and pulled her heart away from the King present in the room. Through this teaching, we discover that our hands can be busy while our hearts remain at rest at His feet. An astonished heart carries that posture into everyday life—attentive to His presence, captivated by His beauty, and anchored in the truth that one thing is needed.

His presence matters. His welcome matters. Our response matters. May the truths we hear so often remain beautiful enough to move us, until gratitude, honor, and affection shape the way we live.

Sunday October 4th, 2026:  Ten lepers received mercy, but one turned back to the feet of Jesus. A woman broke her alabaster box and poured out an offering others called waste, because she recognized the worth of the One before her. In this message, Matt explores how thanksgiving and extravagant affection help us steward an encounter with God.

What happens when astonishing mercy becomes our everyday experience? We keep turning. We remember His kindness, give His presence our attention, and allow our thank-you to reach our calendars, relationships, generosity, and obedience. The encounter is meant to reach the whole life.

Sunday September 20, 2026: What if we actually lived astonished by what is already true?

The Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us. Not around us. Not occasionally visiting us. We have become His dwelling place. 

In this message, Pastor Matt continues The Lordship of the Spirit with an invitation to become conscious of that staggering reality—to live from union with Christ, aware of His presence, and amazed that the reigning King of glory has made His dwelling in us. 

We aren’t trying to pray our way into something we lack or get somewhere we aren’t. We are in Christ. His Spirit is in us. And from that place, we learn to live, pray, and participate with Him. 

Sunday September 13, 2026: The gifts of the Spirit were never meant to make us fascinated with gifted people. They are meant to reveal Jesus.

In this message, Pastor Matt continues The Lordship of the Spirit by walking through the gifts of the Holy Spirit, what Scripture says about their purpose and operation, and why we believe they are still active in the Church today. The gifts are not trophies, spiritual status symbols, or something to manufacture—they are manifestations of the Spirit given for the good of others. 

We are called to pursue love, earnestly desire spiritual gifts, test everything, and remain completely available to the Holy Spirit. This isn’t about becoming “gifted people.” It’s about becoming available people through whom the risen Jesus can make His presence known. 

Jesus is alive. Jesus is Lord. Jesus is present. And His Spirit is still being poured out upon His people. 

Sunday August 30th, 2026: In this teaching from The Lordship of the Spirit, Pastor Matt explores what Scripture means when it calls us to pray in the Spirit and the gift of a heavenly prayer language.

More than simply speaking in tongues, prayer in the Spirit is a sound born from union—the Spirit praying from within us to the Father, in the name of the Son. It is an invitation beyond the limitations of our understanding into participation with what God is authoring within us.

Prayer is not reaching toward a distant God. It flows from fellowship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Our heavenly language is the sound of union.

Sunday August 16, 2026: In this teaching from The Lordship of the Spirit, Pastor Matt finishes walking through Romans 8 and the fruit that accompanies a life governed by the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8 gives us more than theology—it gives us a picture of what life looks like when the Spirit is Lord. Freedom from condemnation. Life and peace. Beloved identity. Freedom from fear. Intimacy with the Father. A life increasingly formed from within by the Spirit of God.

This isn’t about striving to become more spiritual. It’s about surrendering to the One who already lives within us and allowing His life to become evident through ours.

The fruit reveals the government.

Sunday August 9th, 2026: What does it actually mean for the Holy Spirit to be Lord—not simply present in our lives, but the governing presence of our entire existence?

In this message, we trace the human desire for autonomy back to Eden and discover that the Kingdom offers a radically different kind of freedom. The first Adam reached for independence; Jesus revealed the surrendered life: “I can do nothing on My own.” True freedom is not the absence of lordship—it is life beneath the right Lord.

Then, beginning in Romans 8, we explore the first two realities of a Spirit-governed life: no condemnation and freedom. His light is safe. The Holy Spirit does not expose what is hidden in order to shame us; He exposes what He intends to liberate. And where the Spirit is Lord, surrender does not diminish our humanity—it restores it.

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” — 2 Corinthians 3:17

Sunday August 2, 2026:  What if the greatest work of the Holy Spirit isn’t simply empowering us for ministry, but bringing every part of our lives under the joyful reign of King Jesus?

In Week Two of The Lordship of the Spirit, Pastor Matt explores what it means to live beneath Heaven’s government in the ordinary moments of life. Through the life of Jesus, this message reveals that true freedom is found not in self-rule, but in surrender to the loving lordship of Christ made real through Holy Spirit.

This teaching will challenge the way you think about dependence, anxiety, the Kingdom of God, and what it truly means to live by the Spirit. More than behavior modification, the Holy Spirit is restoring us to the life we were always created for—a life governed by the goodness of the Father and marked by righteousness, peace, and joy.
