So, let's recap who Diamond and Epiphany are and what they do. Owners of their own entertainment companies, they share as a dynamic duo as promoters in Charlotte, NC. Entertaining Charlotte with day parties, karaoke nights and a dope night life, they create the ultimate experience each and every time.
I can say that although I was a johnny come lately to the party, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. From the time that I walked in, I felt nothing but good vibes. Even the two women at the door, searching for my name on the list were inviting and energetic. The venue was packed and I definitely had to slide my way through to the stage. I didn't mind, the crowd was very supportive of the event and the turn out was great. The DJ was also on point and kept the crowd engaged and on the floor. Kudos to a dope ass party.


The guest of honor "Snoop" an American actress, rapper and author who is best known for her role in the hit series "The Wire" as Felicia "Snoop" Pearson. She most recently can be seen on Love & HipHop New York, where her life is on display of her career, and relationships. Snoop seemed very down to earth. She was engaging with her fans and admirers and kept the crowd hype.

Diamond and Epiphany are truly bringing the heat to Charlotte, and it looks like there is no stopping this dynamic duo. They have lived up to their respect of hospitality and made the environment more than enjoyable and mature. Keepin it in the family
We all have a dysfunctional family in some way shape or form. The family that argues with one another, that fights each other, and slights another. To say that my family is perfect would be a bold faced lie, sometimes I wonder if we're all really related. I Love them to death but sometimes certain actions that make you question the relationship. When I think of family, the word that comes to mind is 'loyalty'. Having your back, even when you're wrong but telling you in private. Being able to call on them when you're in a rut or just to have someone to talk to. One thing about my family that I enjoyed was being able to get together for Family reunions, cookouts, vacations, everything that screamed family, family ,family and have a genuinely good time.
Now-a-days, it seems impossible to get everyone under one roof, or at least to let everyone know when something is going on. But again, we all suffer from having a dysfunctional family. I have noticed that in many families, they have disputes and go months and years without speaking to one another, to see each other in public and act as if they don't exist. I never understood how this was ever okay! Families, like all other relationships going through their ups and downs but you always end up kissing and making up. At least for the sane folk!
But how can you build or continue building healthy family relationships:
1). Time together: Spend time with your family, and really give them your undivided attention. I know that we all have a life and we like to stay connected, but what is staying glue to your phone or being distracted with minor things to sharing memories and having great conversation. Tomorrow isn't promised, so it's better to stay connected and find ways of reaching out to one another. It's as simple as sending a text "Hope you're having a good day, I love you!" That can change the dynamic of ones relationship to another. It is the absence that speaks distance, make family a priority. It isn't always easy, it can be hard work to meet everyone's needs. There are numerous generations within a family, and it is paramount to lead by example when it comes to the children of the family. They should be able to see what love looks like from within. From their families is where they first experience love, emotions and dysfunction.
2). Separate work and family life: It is so easy to become caught up in a world where you are taking your work home and all you are thinking about is work, work, work. We often forget to switch off from work, and this can even include household chores, caring for a family member, working in an office or organization we don't realize that you have just stepped into another role and it isn't manager, or supervisor. It's mother, husband, wife, whatever your roll may be you need to be available to fulfill it. Sometimes our minds do not shut off when it comes to our jobs, but something that may be helpful is to write it down on a sticky not and worry about tomorrow when you get to work. This leaves more time and attention to give to your family.
3).Show Respect: Set a good example, or better yet treat others the way you would like to be treated. It is easier for people to listen and accept your view when you communicate in a respectful and caring way. Send clear messages and really listen to understand the opposite person. We have to remember that children are watching, and they should be taught the importance of providing respectful responses.
4) Provide support for each other: It is so easy to ignore that phone call or text, and to say I don't feel like talking or assuming that what that person needs isn't important for your time. This may seem like a minimal task but being present and checking in with other family members shows that you are there to provide, comfort, love, and care.

It comes a time when you have to put on your big girl undies or briefs and learn to deal with life, on shall I say 'a more positive note'. Life is throwing curve balls everyday, and whether you are ready or not you are sure to strike out, and probably throw out a shoulder if you aren't ready. I know we all wish that everyone in the world were walking on cloud nine and skipping dainty-fully through sunflower gardens, exchanging cheerful hello's, and warm good-bye's without the under handed resentment that they only said it to you because you spoke to them first. Sadly, this is the truth when it comes to being positive.
The ability to control what and how we think has become a fight or flight for some people, and they often do not realize the height of the rollercoaster until it reaches the top and comes speeding down the tracks like a bat out of hell. However, many of us are blind to the environmental influences that compromises the way we operate. Now, if your attitude isn't as strong or as positive as it should be, the first thing you need to do is find out WHY. If you can understand what is causing your negative attitude and thinking, it becomes easier to accept and implement a remedy-or change. Let's call this a 'call to action'.
We hope for better days, with the same attitude so we say it is everyone else "someone please give this person a mirror". As the elders would say "you need to get your head out of your own butt" but in a more explicit wording. But hey! They were on the outside looking in, and if we stop to think of the image we are portraying, then you stop and reimagine the person you want to be seen as. Have you ever heard someone say "Well, if it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all"? Could there be a more negative outlook? This person is doomed to expecting to lose. Hopeless!
What I have learned as I have mentioned from other guru's, motivational speakers, books, and lots of YouTube is that what you think and how you feel matters. You have to learn to put yourself first and focus on the now. We so often let things such as social media, our 9 to 5 jobs we love so much (sarcastically speaking), tv/news, home life and even our own self-esteem dictate the mood we set for the day. Funny story- "there was a woman I worked with and everyday that she came in, she immediately began ranting and raving about her life and how it is so bad. It never failed that although she was coming in early to work, with out the intention of actually doing work, she still managed to fill not only mine but other coworkers ears with gossip and self-pity. I honestly felt bad for her because she had been hurt before but she was allowing herself to heal and I could see it in her eyes that she was struggling to come to the light. So, as you could guess, I couldn't take anymore of the disparaged comments and negative vibes, I had to chime in and really get to the nitty gritty of why she was so cold-hearted. She even complained that someone complemented her. Now, I am really raising eyebrows.
This is what brings me to my challenge.
I proposed a 7-Day Positivity Challenge to coworkers and friends, to see if they could be positive for at least a week. That meant no negative thoughts, conversations, actions, eye rolling-NOTHING! And, if you just so happen to slip up, counteract it with an immediate positive thought or action. This exercise was in part due to character building, and not to mention me being able to get a little work done.

Having healthy relationships means more than posting the good times on social media and celebrating only the anniversaries. Building healthy relationships means starting with a good foundation and learning the person you wish to have in your life.
