Inclusive Education advocate - this is what Teacher Curt Cruz claims himself to be. According to UNICEF, inclusive education means all children in the same classrooms, in the same schools. It means real learning opportunities for groups who have traditionally been excluded.

We have been hearing about the victories and challenges of being an educator for the past weeks but in this episode, we dive a little deeper into the beautiful story of being an educator for special needs children. For someone so young, Curt already accomplished so much in life but in his free time, he still manages to give space for continued growth by exploring other platforms and sectors in teaching and journeying with co-educators who wish to improve in their field as they navigate online distance learning.

In this episode the roomies were visited by Teacher KD, an alumna and fellow of Teach for the Philippines (TFP). Teach for the Philippines is led by young, civic-minded, and entrepreneurial individuals with a bias for action. They focus on results and work intelligently towards expanding opportunities for all Filipino children. As citizens, TFP is committed to being the change we want to see in our country.   

In her love for education and through the inspiration given by her time with TFP, she was moved to serve in a nationwide agency under the Office of the Vice President, still bringing with her the advocacy of education for all. Listen 'til the end kasi may pa-assignment si Ma'am 😅❤

Jose Rizal once said "Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan" and true enough, amidst the ever-changing world constantly trying to put us down, we continue to stay true to that calling and thrive to find our place in this world. A youngblood joined us in this episode who not only inspired us with his passion for teaching but also for forming the young. Teacher Ian Rosales is a Science teacher and a faith formator guiding the young to pursue life and discover their purpose and calling. Every generation has something different to offer and for Teacher Ian, his lifelong calling is to instill to the young that they have limitless capabilities and opportunities to grow.

Opening our series is a fulltime mom to a toddler and a fulltime teacher to preschoolers. Yup, how crazy is that? Plus doing it while all on lockdown. Others may say it is unthinkable and cannot be done.  But not for Teacher Blue, whose grace and beauty made us in awe of how she manages all her responsibilities at home and at work with excellence. We also got a bonus kilig story with how she honored her husband as part of the continued success she is experiencing juggling everything in her life.

Nung bata pa kami, pre-netflix and Youtube era, watching TV cartoon series was probably one of the things we always looked forward to after a long day in school. Those good old days when the only pressure we needed to overcome was to be able to get home so we wouldn’t miss an episode of Mojacko or sing along the theme song of Heidi and academic shows like Sineskwela and Bayani. Our growing up years also defined the choice of series we watched and in return, the things we learned from these movies and series also defined a part of us and our life principles these days. Honoring has been a long-treasured tradition we learned in the community. It is a practice of sharing good traits and characteristics that are worth commending about the person you are honoring.
