This passage in Isaiah identifies the Messianic figure that will be anointed with the Spirit. Jesus will quote this passage in Luke 4 when he reads from the scroll in the Nazareth synagogue. Jesus will proclaim that this passage is about him. Some have called this the "Nazareth Manifesto." 

The Psalmist is in exile and he misses the days of Temple worship. He misses the days when he was with God's people singing His praises. 

Jesus is able to make clean what is unclean. Jesus takes the place of this man who was once the outcast. 

Solitude - Quiet - Prayer...3 things we don't practice near as much as we should. And yet, they were important to Jesus so they should be important to us.

Jesus heals Peter's mother-in-law as well as exercises authority over other illnesses and demon-possessed.

Jesus comes to the synagogue on the Sabbath in Capernaum. He teaches as "one with authority" and the people are in amazement. To top it off, Jesus casts out an unclean spirit from a demon-possessed man that showed up for "church" that day. The fame of Jesus spreads throughout Galilee. 

Sometimes it seems like the whole world is crashing down on us. In this Psalm, David cries out for help as his foes are coming against him. 

Jesus prayed all night before he made a big decision about the 12 men that he would choose to be His apostles. The apostles would become the foundation of the church. 

"The single greatest cause of atheism in the world today is Christians..." What do others see in you? A perfect life? Someone who has it all together? Someone with no struggles? Be careful - you might be the one thing standing between them and Christ.

Paul compares the wisdom of man to that which is found in Christ - the revealed power and wisdom of God.
