The work that we do now matters more than we often realize. Heaven is much more than merely a beautiful place to eternally chill out.

Our time here on earth is a preparation for an eternity of activity and creativity in the new heavens and the new earth. Our work matters not only now but also for eternity.

Without knowing Christ, you and I will never experience the life for which we were created. Without knowing Christ, our work will never be all that God intended for it to be. Without knowing the One who created work, our work will never be fulfilling.

A large stewardship of our career or calling in the workplace is faithfully showing up every day no matter how we feel, whether we like our present jobs or not. When we show up we demonstrate to others around us our good in and through our work, we show that we are responsible enough to not be moved by feelings because, trust me, our feelings cannot be relied on, most often than not.

It would be a mistake to think that Christians should quit their jobs and become Pastors, missionaries or full-time church workers if God has not called you to be any of these. The so-called secular vocation is not bad, it is simply strategic.

There’s 100% nothing wrong with this but Christians living only with Christians and working only with Christians would not accomplish God’s whole purpose in the world.

God is not any happier when you are religiously active and yet you are not seeking His character lived out in the way you conduct yourself in your place of work.

Truth is you don’t need to be verbally telling people at your work about Jesus before the quality of your work is demonstrated, His justice, His kindness, and His fairness.
