  • Episode 6- How To Make Money With Stocks (Part 3)

In this concluding part of the conversation with CbianBen, we break down the basics of stock analysis. In very simple to understand terms, we go over how to research a stock, what to look for companies' financial statements and how to know when to buy or sell a stock.

This is not a recommendation to buy or sell anything nor is this financial advice. Everything we say on this podcast is for education and entertainment purposes only.

This is scintillating episode with many nuggets of wisdom shared. One thing Ben said that really stood out for me was: "the biggest jail you can ever be in is to be broke."

Financial literacy is not a luxury really, it is a must for everyone to have. And TIB is dedicated to sharing just that! We gat you :-).

    Enjoy the episode!

  • Episode 4 - How To Make Money With Stocks (Part 1)

In this episode, I am joined by Ben Ihesiaba, popularly known as CbianBen on social media. We talk about how to make money in the stock market. Ben is a software engineer in Atlanta who moonlights as an investment researcher for a group of people.  While he is not a licensed stockbroker, he has been actively dealing in stocks for about 20 years. He shares his investment approach, breaking down the rudiments of buying a stock in a way that even the complete newbie can understand.

Like me, Ben is an immigrant who is very passionate about promoting financial literacy within our community and helping you secure the bag. This episode is the first of a  very interesting 3-part series that will help you understand the way money works with stocks. Please note that none of this is financial advice nor is it a recommendation to buy or sell anything. Everything we say here is for education and entertainment purposes only.

  • Episode 3 - Recession or Not, Let's Build Wealth

In this episode, I take a look at the latest GDP report from the US and what it might mean for everyday people. I consider the economic definition of a recession from a GDP standpoint, why we all should pay attention and individual steps that we can begin to take to protect our personal finances.

I go on to discuss some pillars of wealth building and how you as an immigrant may begin to leverage them to secure the bag. None of this is financial advice. Everything I say is for education and entertainment only.

  • Episode 2- The Unspoken Gap in Immigrant Retirement Savings

In this episode of The Immigrant Bag, I take a look at the gap in immigrants' retirement savings that you do not normally hear people talk about. In many cases, immigrants who relocate in their 30s or 40s, have many years of retirement savings to catch up on. To put in it perspective, an average 43 year old who has been working in Canada since college has about a whole 20 year head start on a 43 year old immigrant who has only been working here for a couple of years.

Retirement savings is a huge topic that cannot be discussed exhaustively in one episode. I try to scratch the surface just enough to catalyze a positive reflection on the issue while also discussing potential mitigation strategies.
