A major immigration bomb hit today with the immediate three year backlog on EB-3 and EB-OW categories for the entire world. This has serious implications not only for those with pending labor certifications, but also those with status that is expiring. Politically, it has seriously negative implications for S386, which now loses its main argument, that other countries are getting green cards right away as opposed to two countries that have to wait decades. We talk about the only viable solution, and how we must now work together toward the only rational option--more numbers.

There has been some negotiation between Senator Durbin and Senator Lee and (as of the time of the podcast) the revisions are not public, the terms generally are. There is something for everyone to dislike here. This is what you get when you don't have public hearings. This is sausage getting made.

We start with a short description of my talk yesterday to a group of Seniors about Immigration, how it works, what it means, and where we are going, and we take a deep dive into the RELIEF Act, Senator Durbin's #S2603 bill that improves upon and helps make #S386 something we can all use to better U.S. Immigration policy. Comparing them is useful as we move forward toward a functional resolution.
