Sexual sin is one of the most grievous sins, yet even so there is the hope of justice and restoration for God's people. Today Pastor Bill will continue reading through the book of 2nd Samuel where you'll see King David scrambling to cover and hide his sins from God, and the people around him. Sin is everywhere around you, and you cant confront it without God. So hiding it from him is the worst possible action to take when confronted by it. Are you open and honest with God concerning your Sin?

Giving way to sin hardens your heart, and provokes the departure of the Holy Spirit. Robbing you of your reason, and your God-given ability to discern. Today Pastor Bill will tell you how David used exploitation and manipulation of God-given power to give way to his sin and try to use his position to cover up his sin in an attempt to hide from God, thinking “he's in the clear”. Do you mirror David’s attitude of casual acceptance of your own sin? Yes, God forgives but only those who are truly repentant.

There are times when your plans to do something for God are seen, after a night of prayer, to be a huge distraction from what God is doing for you. That's what King David realized. Today Pastor Bill will show you how God showed David that his building plans for God would interfere with God's plans for David, and you. God has plans for you but just like David, you must be patient and have faith in his promises. But when you try to prioritize your plans, know that it just takes that much longer.

Sometimes you misinterpret God's word and make mistakes in an attempt to be faithful, but that can often lead to disobeying God. Today Pastor Bill will show you how David tried to build a temple for God, but God told David that his son would build the temple, not David. God wanted a man of peace to construct the temple, not a man whose hands were stained with blood. His house was to be “a house of prayer for all nations” so that the Lord could dwell with His people in it. Do you “assume” God's word?

As Pastor Bill will illustrate in today’s message, if you’re playing around with explosives, without understanding what you’re doing, your intentions don’t matter all that much, there could be some serious consequences. On a spiritual level, you may not realize your behavior goes against God’s commands, but it’s still a sin. That sin will still have consequences, regardless of your awareness. Even studying the Word diligently for hours a day won’t save you – you need Jesus if you want to be righteous.

When God calls you to do something, people are going to laugh and ridicule you. Think about Noah building a boat for a flood, or David picking up stones to face a giant. As Pastor Bill will explain in today’s message, each one of us will face giants in this life. We’ll be laughed at and dismissed as crazy. But, if it’s God’s call, you need to step into it in faith. God will provide the strength and enable your success. The world may never see it like that, but God will reward your faithful obedience.

Some of our favorite stories in history are of people revolting against unjust rulers and authorities. It’s exciting and inspiring, but we need to be sure that we’re submitting ourselves to God’s will and commands above our own. It is right to stand against oppression – for example, think about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refusing to kneel to the statue – but Jesus also told us to submit to governing authorities if it doesn’t require us to disobey God’s commands.

We all have multiple kings in our lives. Parents, teachers, bosses, spouses, governors, and presidents are some of the most common forms of authority we encounter in this life. These “kings” are human, and some of them are going to be crazy - guaranteed. Your instinct will tell you to rise up and resist. You can’t let people get away with that, right? But, as Pastor Bill will ask in today’s message, what would it look like to represent God’s heart in the face of bad leadership?

Representational fighting was the practice of selecting one man from each army to fight each other on behalf of the entire army. Whoever won, won the victory for their army. In today's message, Pastor Bill connects David fighting Goliath on behalf of the Israelites, to the way Jesus fought Satan on behalf of us. Thankfully the ultimate battle has been won and Jesus has the victory! When you are facing giants in your life, take heart, remembering that the biggest battle has already been won for you.

So what are you afraid of? In today's message, Pastor Bill teaches the story of the shepherd boy David and his victory over the giant Goliath. David's faith and trust in the Lord outweighed any fear he may have had. Thankfully, God isn't asking you to slay any giants. Instead, he sent Jesus to fight the ultimate enemy on your behalf. Through His death on the cross, and resurrection from the grave, Jesus defeated Satan and he defeated death. Let your faith in Him be your shield as you battle fear.
