If you've ever wondered if the Bible is real and from God, today's message should lay that to rest. Every hero you meet in the Bible, even the Iron Men like Elijah, have points of weakness. They sin, they fall into depression, and they act – well, HUMAN! That's the point, as Pastor Bill will share today – no person is infallible. Even the most devoted followers of Jesus have their weak points! There was one perfect hero, though – the Son of God – and you should cling to Him in all your moments of humanity!

Jesus sacrificed all for you. He hung on a cross in obedience to endure the punishment you deserve. You didn't do anything to deserve it, but you do get the opportunity to reap the benefits of this great act of selflessness! Pastor Bill will remind you in his message today that Jesus didn't stop working once He arrived back in Heaven. Your Savior is as active now as He was on the earth, maybe more so! He's interceding for you, planning your steps, and walking with you on this journey of faith!

God has done some amazing things in the past, and the passage Pastor Bill will be sharing today is no exception. Elijah has been following the Lord's instructions, step by step, not knowing the end, and now he knew God was going to come through. He trusted that fire would fall and light up an altar, one that could not logically be set ablaze. God came through – He responded to Elijah's faith! What's God asking of you? Are you willing to take the steps necessary? If so, you likely get to be part of something miraculous!

Elijah was just a man, a human being born of human parents, just like you. He isn't described as being better looking than anyone else. There's no defining features that set him apart from any other person in his time. But, Elijah was different! Pastor Bill will tell you today that Elijah believed fully in the work and power of His Creator, so much so that he was willing to walk toward the unknown with no reservations. Elijah trusted God, and willingly did the work needed to witness the miraculous!

When you experience God in your life, there will be little room for doubt that it was indeed Him working. As Elijah called upon the power of God in faith, He received a response that left everyone who witnessed it in awe. It wasn’t sleight of hand, a chemical reaction, or even a rogue lightning strike. As Pastor Bill points out in today’s message, God Himself consumed the offering that Elijah brought, and God’s work – invited by the faith and obedience of Elijah – sparked a revival in the land.

There are many gods that we throw ourselves down before. It may be the god of money, possessions, experiences, feelings –the list is long and diverse – but those gods are small and weak. In today’s message, as Pastor Bill examines the account of God demonstrating His power through Elijah on Mount Carmel, he’ll remind you that our God is more powerful than anything this world offers. If you find yourself struggling with idolatry in any form, it’s time to flee from it and allow His fire to consume your spirit.

There’s a misconception amongst people – believers and unbelievers alike – that our God is an angry God of wrath. That He just sits up in heaven waiting for you to mess up so He can punish you. That never has been the way God works. As Pastor Bill explains in today’s message, God is a God of love. He is just, and He cannot stand sin, but because of His love, He sent His own Son to take your place and bear the wrath you deserve. Because of Christ you no longer are subject to wrath.

As a believer, you are surrounded by a great number of witnesses. In your workplace, family or school, you may feel like you’re all alone sometimes, but as Pastor Bill encourages us in today’s message, it is not true. Even if you really are the only one in that specific environment, you definitely are not the only one who’s ever encountered that circumstance. Take courage knowing that God is with you and you have many brothers and sisters who stand with you in the battle.

Have you ever met someone who was passionate about something? Their zeal is contagious. You may have had no interest whatsoever in whatever product or program they go on about, yet you find yourself suddenly interested. As Pastor Bill challenges us in today’s message, what would happen if you were that passionate about Jesus? That passion would start to spread. The people in your life would pay attention, and they would know Jesus was the source of your strength and joy.

Most of us have a sense of obligation to our jobs. Whether it’s something you enjoy or not, it’s a necessity to pay for housing, keep gas in the tank and food in your belly. Yet, as a believer, you have a much more important calling. As Pastor Bill explains in today’s message, your ultimate duty is to your God. He has adopted you into His family and commissioned you to carry His message to the world. Whether you’re at work or home, interacting with friends, family or even your enemies, that is your ultimate mission.
