Experts recognise that social emotional learning (SEL) plays an important role in promoting positive mental health like anxiety disorders, among learners.
As teachers unquestionably influence students' social and emotional development, they have a responsibility to do so in a way that is positive and deliberate but for this to happen, teachers and lecturers need help themselves to develop the skills for themselves first. You cannot give what you don’t have!
This podcast addresses the importance of equipping our educators with Emotional Intelligence skills, because this makes them more attuned to what their students actually need and puts them in a better position to support themselves and their learners.
