In Episode 1 of The Inclusive Mic, we sit down inside the Providence Police Public Safety Complex with our first guest, Michael Matracia, the Providence Police Department’s ADA Coordinator. Michael has served for more than 30 years, and for over two decades he has done it from a wheelchair after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS).
He shares how he went from running a landscaping business to becoming a police officer, what an ADA Coordinator actually does, how IDD and crisis intervention training is changing police work, and why accessibility in Rhode Island still has a long way to go.
Hosted by Christina Battista, James Bray, and Nathan Markley.
