Love is in the air! This week we sat down with Betsy Morris, a screenwriter based in San Diego, CA who has been writing romance, romcom, holiday, and more genre-bending films for the better part of two decades.
Betsy talks to us about her process, what she loves about romcoms, writing for hire versus ideating for original ideas, and about her most recent film,The Wish Swap(2025), now streaming on Peacock and FuboTV, and on the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark+.
We round out the episode with part of our new bookend series,Movies You Might Have Missed, with two selections apiece for February. Tristan recommendsJuliet, Naked(2018) andIf Beale Street Could Talk(2018), and Madison discusses thePirates of the Caribbeanfilms andBlacKkKlansman (2018).
We hope you enjoy today’s episode, and be sure to share it with any aspiring screenwriters, fans of romcoms or Hallmark movies, or anyone looking to write who might not be based in Los Angeles.
