Summary

Mallory provides Butcher with information on a superhero known as Liberty and Becca’s location. Butcher infiltrates the facility, but Becca refuses to leave because Butcher will not accept Ryan. Black Noir discovers Butcher’s infiltration. Threatened by Homelander, Starlight joins Hughie and MM in investigating Liberty. The three learn that Liberty is Stormfront, who committed a racially-charged murder in the 1970s. Starlight leaves Hughie, fearing that they are becoming comfortable with the danger surrounding them. Growing more unstable from Stormfront usurping his popularity, Homelander puts A-Train on medical leave from the Seven, outs Maeve on live television during an interview with Maria Menounos, and kills Doppelganger when he tries to seduce him. Meanwhile, the Church of the Collective enters the Deep into an arranged marriage.

Writer and director Christopher Nolan conceived the ideas behind Tenet over the course of twenty years, but remarked “I’ve been working on this iteration of the script for about six or seven years.” The title is a palindrome, reading the same backward as forwards. Nolan made a conscious effort to abstain from any influence of the spy genre other than his own memory. Spaghetti Western Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) inspired the screenwriting. Special effects supervisor Scott R. Fisher watched World War II movies and documentaries to find reference points for realism. Theoretical physicist Kip Thorne, who worked with Nolan on Interstellar (2014), was consulted on the subjects of time and quantum physics. After completing work on the 2014 film The Fault in Our Stars for 20th Century Fox, director Josh Boone created a comic book with his childhood best friend Knate Lee using panels from Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz’s New Mutants comics to illustrate what a potential film trilogy adapting those comics would be like. The pair had been fans of the characters growing up, with Boone calling the stories “really dark, interesting, and different from the typical X-Men stories that we had read”. Boone and Lee took the comic to Simon Kinberg, one of the producers of the X-Men film series, who “really liked it”. In May 2015, Fox finalized a deal to have Boone direct The New Mutants, from a script by himself and Lee, with Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner producing. The Suicide Squad

The Suicide Squad’s director had a Q&A session, revealing to fans how he was particularly excited at the chance to write Harley Quinn and that he thinks of his movie as a sequel to John Ostrander’s defining Suicide Squad comics. However, likely the biggest news to come out of the panel came when Gunn introduced his full cast and finally revealed who everyone is playing.

In Gotham Knights, Batman is dead and it’s up to four young members of the Bat-Family—Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin and Red Hood—to fill the void left by the fallen Dark Knight. WB Games Montreal debuted the game’s first trailer, in which a pre-recorded message from Bruce Wayne is sent to the four survivors. The trailer features looks at all four of them in action, each with distinctly different weapons and fighting styles. It also gives us a look at some of the game’s villains, including a menacing Mr. Freeze and the Court of Owls.

Milestone Comics

The “Surprise DC Comics Panel” scheduled for the Hall of Heroes midpoint wound up being a celebration of the groundbreaking Milestone Comics that featured a few exciting announcements about the line’s return.

The panel touched on Milestone’s beginning, visionary and nearly unheard of at the time, and the key role Dwayne McDuffie played in its development. One of the first fan questions the group got concerned plans for Milestone in film, TV and other media outside comics, and the panel mentioned that they are in fact in serious talks about a Static Shock feature film as well as other platforms like animated films, podcasts and even Young Adult content.

The Snyder Cut of Justice League

Debuting on HBO Max in 2021, Snyder’s recut Justice League will be divided into four parts, each one hour long. After all four parts have debuted, they’ll be edited together into a single film, in case anyone prefers to watch it that way. Finally, he mentioned that they’re at work on an international distribution plan so that countries where HBO Max is currently unavailable will still be able to see the film.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League 

DC FanDome’s second big videogame panel comes care of the team behind one of the biggest game franchises in gaming history—Batman: Arkham. Rocksteady Studio’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was announced last week with a provocative teaser image and an even more outlandish title reveal. Summary

Five warned his family (so, so many times) that using his powers to escape from Vanya’s 2019 apocalypse was risky. Well, he was right – the time jump scatters the siblings in time in and around Dallas, Texas. Over a three year period. Starting in 1960. Some, having been stuck in the past for years, have built lives and moved on, certain they’re the only ones who survived. Five is the last to land, smack dab in the middle of a nuclear doomsday, which – spoiler alert! – turns out is a result of the group’s disruption of the timeline (déjà vu, anyone?). Summary

On one day in 1989, 43 infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by billionaire industrialist Sir Reginald Hargreeves, who creates the Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world. In their teenage years, though, the family fractures and the team disbands. Fast forward to the present time, when the six surviving members of the clan reunite upon the news of Hargreeves’ passing. They work together to solve a mystery surrounding their father’s death, but divergent personalities and abilities again pull the estranged family apart, and a global apocalypse is another imminent threat. Andy Dwyer in “Parks and Rec”. Despite his longstanding role as Bright Abbott in “Everwood” and a guest-starring role on “The OC”, P&R truly allowed Pratt’s comedic timing (a major aspect of his charm) to mature. This would serve him well going forward, allowing him to combine a swashbuckling nature of Peter Quill and Jurassic World’s Owen Grady. Though rarely a part of the primary storyline, his ability to grab the screen when the opportunity afforded was impressive, particularly when looking at the power of P&R’s ensemble cast.

The Great

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 1 (2014)

Peter Quill GotG, Vol 1: One thing the MCU has done throughout its decade-plus run is finding the perfect actor to bring their characters to life. Helped by his stint on Parks & Rec, Pratt’s Quill is the embodiment of his manchild that was Andy Dwyer. But unlike Andy, Quill showcased courage and badassery befitting a space pirate. Guardians allowed Pratt to tap into his action/adventure talents, fostered by his ability to use jokes as a shield for the pain of loss. When Quill finally confronts his perceived shame of turning away from his dying mom, Pratt finds an emotional depth that, even now, ranks as one of the most emotional moments of the MCU.
