In this episode, my Musical Mountaineering partner Rose Freeman (piano) talks with me about some of my favorite climbing adventures (and lessons learned!) from my early days of mountaineering in the PNW. This is the first in a series of conversations that we record en route to our Musical Mountaineering adventures!

I recorded a "duet" (with myself) on my violin and paired it with one of my original poems entitled, "You Are The Music".  

The hymn in this episode is called, "Thanksgiving Hymn" and it is a 15th century German hymn.

In this episode, I open with some improvisation on my violin. I talk about my own experiences as a police officer dealing with PTSD, and how they led me to find healing through my music. I finish the podcast by playing another one of my favorite hymns.  

This episode includes two duets with my husband Aaron on the ukulele (Stand by Me and Amazing Grace). We talk about his own journey from, "stuck to summit" - how he is simply trusting the process to find his own path in life. Aaron came from a very traditional path and believed that he didn't have any, "special skills".

In this episode I talk with adventurepreneur Stacey Arnold from Inclined to Adventure. Stacey is a photographer and wilderness enthusiast from the Portland area, who fell in love with photography and the mountains as a way to cope with her own anxiety. 

We talk about limiting beliefs and what it means to design your own adventure-inspired life. 

I start this episode with one of my favorite hymns, and then I dive deep into a personal story about being bullied as a child and how these emotional wounds have affected me as an adult. I share one of the tools that I have used to find peace in dealing with challenging moments.
