Every time you buy something new, you get an instruction manual that can seem intimidating. Wise people take the time to read and understand it. The same goes for God's instruction manual—the Bible.
In II Kings 22, we read about Hilkiah the high priest finding the Book of the Law in the Lord’s Temple. When Shaphan read it to King Josiah, the king was so grieved by the people’s neglect of God’s Word. This powerful reaction shows us the importance of knowing and adhering to God’s instructions.
Think about assembling a toy or piece of furniture without reading the manual. You might get it together, but it’s likely to be unstable or fall apart. Similarly, life without God’s guidance can lead to unnecessary struggles and heartache. Wise people read the manual and apply its teachings.
In our own lives, keeping a tight grip on God’s Word is crucial. It’s easy to neglect or disregard it, especially when life gets busy. But like Josiah, we need to recognize the Bible’s value and make it a priority. It reveals the greatness of God and provides wisdom and direction for every aspect of our lives. So, let’s be wise and diligently seek to understand and live by God’s instruction manual.
