So let’s jump right into it. I’m new to this, and what better way to get started than to …get started? A little about me: I am a writer by nature, more or less a poet, and all around a very curious person. I like to ask questions. I like to get to know people, and to learn what they might know. I say hello to strangers, connect with people, and generally just get all up in the business. So why do I actually hate social media so much?
Here’s a little outline of where I’m going with this.. Have you ever found yourself in the midst of a heated, passionate argument with a complete stranger over something neither one of you are experts about? Have you ever been out with a friend or on a date and felt oddly jealous or insecure about how often they pick up their phone and hit the scroll? How many days in a row have you gone without some sort of social media….or could you even go days in a row?? All of these things and more are questions I’ve asked myself over and over…so let’s open this conversation up. Lots of people have chimed in on this topic over the years, as social media has begun to play a bigger and more ever present role in our day to day lives. Social media is a monopoly now–without Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat or Instagram, who would see or hear you?
