Hello! šš¼
Iāve missed writing to you and I do pray youāve been well. When I wrote my last missive in December of last year, I mentioned I would be taking a hiatus. I didnāt anticipate it would be this long.
A lot has changed in the world.
Again.
Weāre in the midst of experiencing the biggest and most significant war in modern times. Inflation is forcing us to change our spending habits and itās affecting the poor, most of all. The Lakers might not make the playoffs after being favored as the champs before the season began. Womp womp.
On the other side, the first successful xenogeneic heart transplant, from a genetically modified pig to a human patient,Ā was reported in the US back in January š±. We also had a team led by Stanford scientists report the fastest ever sequencing of a human genome, accomplished in just five hours and two minutes.
There is plenty to collectively grieve and celebrate.
In your 2022 so far, what are you grieving? And are you creating room for celebration?
A big reason for my hiatus is because Iāve gone deeper into my inner work. I thought there was nothing left to grieve but I was wrong. Childhood traumas, professional relationships, old ways of being, my business evolving are just the few on the list.Ā
In this process, Iāve become much more connected to the fullness of my existence. The depth of my human experience. While it shouldnāt come as a surprise, as itās been my experience before; I find that I am quite surprised that on the other side of the grieving is even more spaciousness. More room. More freedom. More of my True Self. And that has been a cause to celebrate.
As I come out of my hiatus, I find that there is an invitation to reinvention. My life has blossomed like never before. The work that I get to do now as a coach has been years in the making. I am inclined to lean further into this reinvention phase. Everything that I am creating and am participating in will change. It already has.
I want to invite you into my reinvention in hopes of inspiring you to step into yours. In the next few weeks, this newsletter will be going through some sort of refashioning. The cosmetics will change. The title will change. The content will be the same and yet it will change too.
All that to say, hereās what you can expect in the content:
* Iāll continue to step into vulnerability.
* Iāll continue to explore the interconnectedness of life, leadership, parenthood, marriage and my work as an executive coach.
* Iāll continue to do my best in inspiring you to unleash your most heroic self, in the midst of your challenges.
As I take you on this journey, will you let me know what youāre enjoying? What youād like more of? And whatās not working for you?
It would mean a whole lot if you did.
Soā¦
If you would allow me, Iād like to end with a reintroduction of who I am and what Iām up to.
My name is Jomar Gomez.
I live in LA. Iām an immigrant, born in the Philippines. I am a husband, a father, a son and a brother.Ā I am a childhood trauma survivor. I am a lover of the arts. I am a pursuer of truth and wisdom. And I am in love with the depth of the human experience. These days, everything beautiful, sad and joyful makes me cry.
I own a successful private coaching practice.I serve execs, athletes, artists and VC leaders in unlocking their fullest potential. I also support the development of their companies too. I am passionate in the health and well-being of organizations and individuals. I strongly believe and have personally experienced that there is a way to throw ourselves into the work of our lives and not lose ourselves in the process. In fact, it can be quite enlivening.
I am living my dream.
My new dream is to be a millionaire and to challenge myself to give half of it away.
I want to invite you into this next phase of me and my work.
In that process, I hope to invite you into your new dreams and aspirations. Into your new way of being. And help you discover that youāve been whole and enough all along.
Fiercely loving you,
Jomar
