The main topic of Iran-Contra, however, is a huge, powerhouse historical event of corruption, mismanagement on an astronomical level, breaking government rules, circumventing the constitution and doing everything possible to push through the personal political agendas of a very small group of powerful people.

Reagan came to power after Carter declaring how he would deal with terrorism. He was hard line, there would be no quarter given, no negotiation, no compromise. After lies and obfuscation, Reagan had to finally admit that his government had in fact sold arms to Iran and funded an illegal war in Nicaragua. He admitted it, but stressed he hadn’t lied, despite having expressed the opposite to the truth.

Here we talk about some of the events and important consequences of the Iran-Contra affair and we also touch on how there are similarities to be found with today’s hearings on the January 6th attack on the Capitol.
