Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz is an American lawyer and former law professor known for his work in U.S. constitutional law and American criminal law. From 1964 to 2013, he taught at Harvard Law School, where he was appointed the Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law back in 1993. Professor Dershowitz is a regular media contributor, political commentator, and legal analyst. An ardent Zionist and supporter of Israel, Professor has written several books on the Arab–Israeli conflict. I could say so much more about your very distinguished legal career Professor Dershowitz.
Professor Eugene Kontorovich was born in Kyiv, Ukraine and moved to the US with his parents at the age of three. He immigrated to Israel in 2013 with his wife and four children. Kontorovich is a proponent of using anti-BDS laws to combat the BDS movement. He has helped many US states draft such legislation. Kontorovich is a fellow of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, and heads the international law department at the Kohelet Policy Forum.
I felt extremely honoured to have the opportunity to bring these distinguished lawyers together to deal with the topic of the perceived threats to Israel’s democracy that are associated with Netanyahu’s governing coalition moves to introduce what are widely viewed as judicial reforms that will seriously impact on the checks and balances between the legislative, executive and judicial branches of Israel’s parliamentary democracy.
