Episode title: You Don’t Need to Become a Content Creator to Market Your Business
Somewhere along the way, running a business started to come with a second, completely separate job:
becoming a content creator.
You might be a coach, photographer, designer, jewellery maker, salon owner, consultant… whatever.
And suddenly you’re also expected to know how to film yourself, edit videos, write hooks, understand lighting, follow trends, take photos, talk to camera, post Stories and somehow come up with something new to say every bloody day.
But here’s the problem:
Content isn’t the thing you’re trying to build. Content is one of the ways you get people to notice the thing you’re trying to build.
In this episode of The It Girl Show, I’m talking about the difference between being a business owner who uses content and being a content creator whose business is content — because social media has blurred that line so much that a lot of business owners are holding themselves to completely unrealistic standards.
And honestly? I think it’s making content far harder than it needs to be.
We’re getting into why you probably don’t need MORE production, MORE footage, MORE equipment or MORE time spent thinking about Instagram.
You probably need more skill + less complication.
Inside the episode, we talk about:
Why comparing your marketing to a professional content creator’s actual job is a wildly unfair benchmark
Why low-lift content can still be incredibly useful business marketing
The handful of visual skills that make content look better without turning you into a professional photographer
Why pretty content without a clear message isn’t enough
How to decide what you actually want each piece of content to do
Why the visual gets attention, but the message gives that attention somewhere to go
How batching, banking, reusing and repurposing stop you from constantly starting from zero
Why you do not need brand-new footage or brand-new ideas every time you post
The question to ask yourself before you make your next Reel: “Am I doing this because it’s useful marketing for my business, or because I think this is what a content creator is supposed to do?”
Because the goal isn’t to make you better at thinking about content all day.
It’s to make you good enough at content that you don’t have to think about it all day.
Content should support the business.
The business shouldn’t exist to support the content.
And if you’re listening to this thinking, “YES. I want to be good at content. I just don’t want content to become my entire bloody job,” that is exactly why I created It Girl Content.
Inside, I teach you the visual skills — light, angles, posing, framing, what to film and how to make ordinary things look good — alongside a simple content system that helps you plan, batch, bank, reuse and repurpose what you create.
So instead of waking up thinking, wtf am I going to post today?
Content just… isn’t A Thing anymore.
