In this episode of The Chat, Alexa sits down with Dean Echambadi of D'Amore-McKim School of Business (DMSB) at Northeastern University to discuss the opportunity gap within the business world. Dean Echambadi explains to us what an inclusive economy is and how this will be the solution to not only closing the gender opportunity gap, but also achieving economic equality for Black, Asian and Latinx Americans all across the country. 

In this episode of The Chat, Alexa interviews Dean Elizabeth Hudson of the College of Arts, Media & Design, also known as CAMD. The conversation ranges from discussing Dean Hudson's career path, the misconceptions that come with pursuing a major in the Arts and how CAMD is initiating changes to increase women faculty members and mentors to cultivate an equal and secure environment for all of their students. They also discuss how important it is for all majors to be praised, not just majors relating to STEM. 

In this episode, Katya tells you all about the Co-Op program from the application process to working a job. She includes her chaotic first Co-Op experience freshman year and answers the most common questions about the program. 

In this episode, Katya details her very interesting experience with freshman year of college including her first week of classes, her social situation, and the boys. She also interviews a Northeastern freshman, Tessa, and an upperclassmen, Ivy, to answer some questions about freshman year that aren't really talked about. 

In this episode, Alexa interviews Dean Carmen Sceppa about the gender opportunity gap within Bouvé College of Health Sciences. During the conversation, Dean Sceppa discusses the importance of community outreach for the students within her college. By interacting, understanding and learning from the community in which you reside, you are creating a generation of students that set a place for everyone at their table. 

In this episode, Katya introduces herself as the second host and talks about the content and style of her more casual episodes. She comedically discusses the changes she has had to face because of Covid-19, and then reads submissions from other Northeastern students about how their first week of school went. 

COVID-19 has created a global crisis that is severely affecting health, economies and governments. Women and girls, in particular, are feeling these effects at an elevated level. From women healthcare workers lacking in leadership positions to the increased violence against women, it is clear that gender inequalities are increasing as a result of this pandemic. However, there are real solutions to these daunting problems, and in her interview, Deborah Bergholm-Petka walks us through the ways in which Lowell General Hospital is implementing strategies and initiatives to create an equal and progressive workplace.
