The Jamal Muse Show

In this first podcast episode of 2021, I have a conversation with Marjorie Foer, one of the few speech therapists who *get it*. And by 'get it' I mean she truly understands what the struggle to speak fluently is all about for people who stutter.

I pick her brain and unpack some of her learnings in 30+ years of coaching and helping people who stutter.

Loads of amazing insights and golden epiphanies to be had. Enjoy!

I received a question a not too long ago from someone who's been fluency for a good few months, and then suddenly started blocking again. She was confused. I explain why this may happen and how to use it as an opportunity for growth.

In this episode I talk about an incident one of my clients faced in his job, how he was speaking fine one moment then all of a sudden he stutter appeared out of nowhere.

I dissect the interaction and provide my 2 cents.

If you'r someone who stutters, you'll find this useful. (promise)

Our fluency is never consistent is it? Some days we're largely fluent, other days...not so much. Instead of getting worked up and all frustrated about this, we can use this to help us identify the issues we're facing in life. They say success leaves clues, I say stuttering leaves clues. Enjoy.

In this episode, I have the pleasure of interviewing Jacqueline. She's a script writer,a big stuttering advocate, and of course stutters herself. We discuss her journey of acceptance and how she's come to terms with her stutter and how she manages the negative self-talk she faces as someone who stutters publicly on her Youtube Channel.

We all have a host of problems in our life, and our stutter is seemingly the root case of these problems. This viewpoint actually contributes to the problem. Once we start taking full responsibility for your life, and start to own up, we position ourselves in a powerful way to actually make our lives better.

Fluency is much like falling asleep and falling in love. The more conscious effort and control we apply, the less likely we are to be fluent. This episode talks about letting go, being more vulnerable and setting ourselves deeper intentions in speaking situations, as opposed to simply aiming for fluency.

In this episode, I interview Jamie Stenhouse and using your stutter to achieve your dreams, attracting your ideal partner and so much more.

As people who stutter, we have this uncanny ability to predict which words we'll stutter on, or whether we'll stutter at all. In other words, we predict the future when it comes to our speech.

And it always ends up happening. Instead of using this in a way that doesn't help, we can use this same concept to help us be more fluent. You learn how in this short episode.

In this episode, I interview Marjorie Foer, a veteran speech and language pathologist who truly understands what the struggle to speak fluently is all about, despite not having a stutter herself. We discuss her story, the stuttering hexagon, 'the work' and a whole bunch of other golden nuggets. Not an episode to miss!
