DICE LA has returned to work on the Battlefield franchise, according to Creative Design Director Justin Weibe on Twitter. Weibe sent followers on a guessing game of which franchise the team was working on, ultimately leading back to the Battlefield franchise. Respawn's Vince Zampella was put in control over the company, announcing that the team was working on an entirely new "as-yet-unannounced" game, meaning that the team has either expanded their development capacity beyond individual games or have pivoted back to the mothership.

Some PlayStation 5 users have reported that analog sticks on Sony's DualSense controller are drifting. According to Kotaku, these reports started as early as 10 days after the release of the PlayStation 5 last year. While the extent of these issues is still yet to be determined, CSK&D, LLC is "investigating" a class action lawsuit. 

Edit: Microsoft's "Vault"  will not be a long-term name used by the company. A document released by the EU shares that “Following this merger, Vault will cease to exist and ZeniMax will survive, as a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft.”  

 Edit 2: Ben Schwartz will not be voicing Tails - Schwartz is the voice of Sonic in both the first movie and its sequel. The voice of Tails has not been announced, but Jason Mamoa may be in talks to voice Knuckles and that's cool so I wanted to share that here as well.

The studio behind The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077, and more has been the victim of a cyberattack. The company made the announcement on Twitter, sharing the letter left by the attacker alongside an official company statement. Along with sensitive HR, legal, and financial documents, the attackers have also obtained full source code for The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and Gwent. CD Projekt Red has said that they will not give into the demands of the attacker and will instead take the risk of sensitive data being released to the public.

According to pitch obtained by VGC, the ESA plans to bring back the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo with a digital event spanning three days between June 15 and 17 in addition to a week-long buildup of coverage from publishers, influencers, and media personnel. The future of the gaming industry summit has been called into question in recent years after many big-name publishers and platform holders have stopped attending, opting rather to host their own events independently rather than pay the fees to be included in a conference series that many consider to be archaic. Last year's show was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest - a similar premise to E3, but stretched out over the course of the entire summer. This event will also be returning for 2021, creating a very crowded summer season.

A new financial report sharing Activision-Blizzard's FY 2020 and Q4 2020 figures, revealing that Call of Duty revenue nearly doubled year-over-year. While revenue was up, engagement across platforms and titles was down between 3 and 9 percent depending on the section of the company.

Valve has lost a lawsuit from Ironburg Inventions, parent company of SCUF Gaming. Valve will pay at least $4M in damages to the company after a jury unanimously voted that Valve's use of back paddle technology on its Steam Controller was willful patent infringement. SCUF Gaming has had a patent for the back paddle technology since 2011 when the controllers made the scene and provided additional functionality to enthusiast players willing to pay a premium for a controller with additional bells and whistles to enhance gameplay.

Sony's Q3 financial report revealed that the company has sold 4.5 million PlayStation 5 units in less than two months, driving the company's Game and Network Services division up to $8.4 billion in revenue, a 25% increase over the same time period the year before. The report also disclosed that the console is selling at a loss, though strong software sales of ¥433 billion offset those losses. The latest projections from Sony show that the company is on track to have its most successful year on record with an estimated $25 billion in revenue and $3.2 in operating profit.

Roughly 18 months into the life of Stadia, Vice President and GM of Google Stadia Phil Harrison announced on Monday that they'll be shutting down the Stadia Games and Entertainment teams working to create exclusive experiences on Google Stadia.
