Marking Alicia Malone's fiction debut, "Murder at the Movies" is the first installment in a new cozy mystery series that combines her love of classic cinema with murder, mystery, and small-town intrigue.

When Audrey Sullivan inherits her grandmother's movie theater in a small Maine town, she's ready for a fresh start. But her plans take an unexpected turn when a local real estate developer is found dead during a screening of an Alfred Hitchcock film. Suddenly, Audrey finds herself caught up in a murder investigation where nearly everyone has something to hide.

Filled with classic movie references, memorable characters, and plenty of twists, "Murder at the Movies" brings the atmosphere of an old-fashioned movie palace to the world of cozy mysteries.

Alicia discusses making the leap from film criticism to fiction, her inspiration for the story, and how her passion for classic Hollywood helped shape the book. Released October 6, 2026, "Murder at the Movies" is the first in a planned series, with a sequel expected in June 2027.

Director of Photography and IMAX Camera Technician Scott C. Smith joins The Jan Price Show All About Movies to discuss his work on Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey," the first feature-length narrative film shot entirely using IMAX film cameras.

With a career spanning more than three decades, Scott has worked on some of Hollywood's most technically ambitious productions, including "Oppenheimer," "Sinners," "Tenet," "Dunkirk," "Interstellar," "The Dark Knight Rises," "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," "Apollo 13," and "Terminator 2: Judgment Day."

Scott takes us behind the scenes of "The Odyssey" to discuss the challenges of shooting an entire feature film in IMAX 70mm, the specialized cameras and techniques involved, and what it takes to capture Christopher Nolan's epic vision on physical film. Drawing on decades of experience with large-format cinematography, aerial photography, and specialized camera systems, Scott offers a firsthand look at the technology and craftsmanship behind some of cinema's most memorable images.

"Give It a Shot" follows an 83-year-old scientist and a determined group of innovators working to bring a reversible male contraceptive to market -- an advancement that could dramatically expand birth control options for men.

Stirring, tender, and often funny, the documentary goes inside the long and unconventional effort to develop a new form of male birth control while asking a larger question: Why, decades after the introduction of the birth control pill, are contraceptive options for men still so limited?

Through the people behind the research and their personal stories, "Give It a Shot" explores the science of male contraception as well as the potential impact a successful new method could have on family planning, reproductive responsibility, men's reproductive health, and gender equity.

I had the honor of meeting legendary Hollywood casting executive, talent manager, and ICM agent Andrea Eastman during the final months of her remarkable life. Andrea passed away on August 26, 2026.

Just weeks before her passing, I sat down with Andrea in her home for what would become her final filmed interview. Because she was ill, I brought only my iPhone. There were no elaborate cameras or production crew—just Andrea sharing extraordinary stories from a life spent at the center of Hollywood history.

As head of casting at Paramount Pictures, Andrea championed Ali MacGraw for "Goodbye, Columbus" and played a pivotal role in "The Godfather," helping James Caan secure the iconic role of Sonny Corleone.

Her influence stretched across decades of film and television. Andrea discovered Jaclyn Smith, helped bring Steven Spielberg and Roy Scheider together for "Jaws," managed Sylvester Stallone during the "Rocky" era, and persuaded Rob Reiner to cast Billy Crystal in "When Harry Met Sally."

Over the course of her career, Andrea represented or managed some of the biggest names in entertainment, including Barbra Streisand, Burt Reynolds, Dustin Hoffman, Richard Gere, Kim Basinger, Jamie Lee Curtis, Christopher Reeve, Henry Winkler, Kathleen Turner, Elle MacPherson, Katie Couric, and many others.

Andrea's passion extended beyond Hollywood. A devoted animal advocate, she established a sanctuary for abused and abandoned horses and dogs and enlisted Robert Redford's help in an effort to protect horses from slaughter.

Andrea was tough, determined, fiercely loyal, and never afraid to fight for the people and causes she believed in. As she once told me, "You never take no for an answer."

I'm deeply grateful to have had the opportunity to preserve Andrea's memories and stories in her own words.
