🎙️ What’s on the Other Side of Your Yes? | Obedience to God

What happens when God tells you to go, but you want to run the other way?

In this episode of The Jane Feurstock Podcast, we’re talking about obedience—the uncomfortable kind. The kind that requires trusting God when His direction doesn’t make sense, when you don’t feel ready, and when saying YES would be easier to avoid.

We’ll walk through Jonah’s story, from running from God’s instruction to finally going to Nineveh—and look at what happened on the other side of his obedience. We’ll also look at Samuel’s powerful reminder in 1 Samuel 15:22: “to obey is better than sacrifice.”

Who we surround ourselves with matters—especially when we're hurting, grieving, angry, or tempted to make choices based on what we want instead of what God wants.

In this deeply personal episode of The Jane Feurstock Podcast, I share a recent moment when someone close to me loved me enough to say, essentially, “This doesn't look like Jesus.”

I had a choice: become offended, defend myself and do what Jane wanted—or listen, take it to God, and ask myself, “How would Jesus want me to respond?”

Godly accountability isn't about judgment, superiority, or control. Sometimes it's having someone in your circle who loves you enough to lovingly point you back to Jesus when your eyes begin drifting toward yourself or the world.

We'll talk about dying to self, receiving correction without immediately choosing offense, surrounding ourselves with godly people, and learning to recognize the difference between condemnation and loving accountability.

Grief doesn’t always happen once and then disappear. 💔 Sometimes we heal, we grow, and we move forward—and then a new season of life reminds us just how much we still miss the people we’ve lost. 🕊️

In this deeply personal episode of The Jane Feurstock Podcast, I share about losing both of my parents and how I’ve found myself “re-grieving” them during different stages of my life. ❤️‍🩹

There were times during my divorce when I desperately wished I could pick up the phone and call my mom. There were weddings where I wished my dad could have been there to walk me down the aisle. And through those experiences, I began to realize that sometimes we aren't grieving the loss all over again—we're grieving new moments we wish they were here to experience with us. 🥹❤️

📖 Together, we’ll turn to Psalm 23 and other Scriptures to talk about what God says about grief, why crying and mourning are not signs of weak faith, and how we can grieve while still holding onto hope.

🌿 Jesus wept.
💧 There is a time to mourn.
❤️ The Lord is near the brokenhearted.
🙏 And even in the darkest valley, He is with us.

You don't have to rush your grief. You don't have to pretend it doesn't hurt. And most importantly, you don't have to walk through the valley alone. 🕊️✝️

Sin Loves the Dark

Sin thrives in secrecy. It wants us to hide, stay quiet, and convince ourselves that if no one knows, we don't have to face it. But hidden sin often becomes fertile ground for guilt, shame, fear, and condemnation.

In this episode, we're talking about what happens when we stop hiding and bring our sin into the light. We own it. We confess it. We repent. We receive God's grace. And when we stumble again? Rinse and repeat. Not because sin doesn't matter, but because following Jesus is a continual journey of repentance and transformation.

The enemy wants your sin to define you. Jesus calls you to bring it into the light.

Expose it. Own it. Repent of it. Turn from it. Keep walking with Jesus.

Don't give hidden sin the power to run your life. There is freedom in truth, confession, repentance, and the grace of God.

What does it really look like to navigate life as a new Christian?

I’m still learning, still growing, and still surrendering—but my heart is to reflect Jesus through my actions so others can see Him through me.
