  • LLS Woman of the Year Candidate Lauren Paine Episode 47

    Lauren Paine Texas Titan 47

Lauren Paine is in a word-impressive. I have had the pleasure of watching Lauren from afar as a financial professional, community leader and overall impressive human for the past several years. Not only is she an incredibly accomplished financial services advisor for Northwestern Mutual, but she is also a community leader. She has undertaken the incredibly tall task of becoming the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Woman of the Year in Houston.

Please click HERE to learn more about how you can help Lauren in her efforts. In this episode we discuss tools and tactics to better know yourself first so you can understand what you should do with your life. Lauren almost immediately discovered a methodology to deploy finding her “dream job” as a financial advisor. She discusses how she created a list of what things she didn’t want to do on a daily basis as well as what she loved to do.

I found her exercise in this regard fantastic. As someone who believes in journaling myself, I found her approach very beneficial. Please enjoy this great conversation with my friend Lauren Paine.

    Show Notes:

  • “A Conversation” Two Dads, Four Daughters and One Country. What Do We Do? Episode 46

We hear it all the time. What we need in America is a conversation about race. However, it seems all we see is shouting and tribalism. We see different agendas pursued many of which have no desire to solve the root problems.

Hebrews 10:24-25 reads, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

Texas Titan Episode 41, Spencer Bynes, reached out to me to come back on and discuss these heated issues facing our country. Spencer and I both have daughters of similar ages. What does an African-American dad tell his daughters? What am I telling mine. How do we keep them communicating with members of other races and not retreated to their corners?

While Spencer and I don’t pretend to have all the answers nor do we think one conversation is going to cure race relations we do hope is serves as an example. We need real every day people talking not just the pundits and talking heads who just “observe” everyday life in America but in reality are far removed from it.

I hope you enjoy “the conversation.”

  • Books! Joe Lafko and I Discuss Some of our Favorite Reads. Episode 45

    Let’s Talk Books!

I love books. You’ve heard it said, “Leaders are readers.” I agree. I firmly believe reading is like push-ups for your brain. In this episode Joe Lafko (Texas Titan Episode 38) and I discuss 4 of our favorite reads. The books covered are:

“Leadership Secrets of Attila the Hun” -Wes Roberts

“Born Standing Up: A Comics Life” -Steve Martin

    “Start With Why” -Simon Senek

    “Choose Yourself” -James Altucher

These are all great reads although fortunately I have read neither of Joe’s picks. This means my list just got a little bigger. I hope you enjoy the show. I wanted to change it up a bit. I want to find a way to introduce you to things I’m reading or doing without you just having to hear it from me the whole show.

Also, please go to jasonwrightnow.com and sign up for “The Vitruvian Letter.” This is my newsletter committed to my mantra of “improving always in all ways.” In the VL I will discuss mental, spiritual and physical fitness. I cover nutrition, work habits, creating positive habits and getting rid of bad ones. It’s just a concise wrap up of all the stuff I’m up to in my effort to become a better human.

    Upcoming episodes:

I’m going to be sitting back down with Spencer Bynes (Episode 41). Spencer is and I will discuss the differences and likenesses of being he a black father and I white father. How do we prepare our children for an ever-changing society seemingly enduring birth pangs at the moment?

I will also be talking to Dr. Chris Crow M.D., CEO of Catalyst Health Network. Dr. Crow is an amazing leader in the healthcare space. We will discuss population management, saving the U.S. healthcare system and business leadership in general. It should be a great show.
