Restore Oregon, a nonprofit, is storing the pieces of the old wooden carousel from Jantzen Beach in Portland, and looking for a permanent home for it.

Food Waste Prevention Week (April 10-16), right up the alley of the Community Compost program in the Rogue Valley. Now food scraps from several communities can be picked up for compost on area farms. Adam Holtey of Rogue Produce started the program.

"Drawing Deportation: Art and Resistance among Immigrant Children" brings in the words and the pictures--mostly the pictures--of children whose families are part of the immigration picture, legal and not. Silvia Rodriguez Vega from the University of California-Santa Barbara rounded up the children and their artwork for the book.
