He was chronologically on time to meet the giant. He was chromatically different in that he was ruddy, of a reddish complexion. He didn’t have to be mythological and serving other gods. He didn’t have to be psychological and trying to intimidate his opponent. He was simply anointed and able. Battle ready and blessed. Calm in the chaos and confident for the conflict. He could dance a spiritual groove on his enemy’s grave. Make no mistake about this worshiper, he was also a warrior. Fearless and fierce. Psalm 119 is a powerful passage with 176 verses. They are divided into an acrostic based on the Hebrew letters of the alphabet. Each section has eight verses attributed to each letter, known as a strophe. The first set based on the Hebrew letter Aleph, is what I call the Holy Way. It deals primarily with going in the right direction. It speaks of an undefiled traveler on this blessed journey. It deals with diligently pursuing the testimonies and statutes of God, not being halfhearted, but wholly committed. When we keep the word of God we have direction, discernment and spiritual desire. We face uncertainties in a destructive world. Wars. Invasions. Terror. Life has unexpected twists and turns. But our confidence comes from the gentleness of our Heavenly Father. Matthew 6:13  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. 

Hour after hour the Lord has been reaching for the rebel. He has given a cross laden path to redemption. He has literally spilled blood to take away the blame. He has patiently paced the mercy floor waiting for one prayer, one submission, one hint of a desire to turn to Him. But you can only spurn the Spirit so long. Eventually the hourglass will drop the last grain sand. Mercy will close her ears. Grace will retire. The cross will be only a broken memory. The blood river will dry up. The ark doors will be closed on this generation of evil doers and God-haters and selfish rebels and every refuser of His Gospel. The Word is plain in 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9:

2Th 1:7  And to you who are troubled (to be brought into difficulties, stress, or struggles) rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed (previously hidden but made fully known) from heaven with his mighty angels, 

2Th 1:8  In flaming fire taking vengeance (penalty inflicted on wrong doers) on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 

2Th 1:9  Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power. Listen now…

The promises of God are expansive. God wants His People to grow and grow abundantly. We often live for less because we settle for substitute dreams. But no earthly dream of success and exceed God’s dream for His Church. He wants us to lengthen the cords of our faith, to strengthen the stakes of doctrinal authenticity, and to make room for more disciples. Let us not be shortchanged by fear, diminished by doubt, or isolated by failure. We can accomplish what God sees if we stay humble and spiritually active. People of prayer and consecration will new territories of revival and hope; they will overcome demonic obstacles and set captives free. Let’s believe for border stretching, boundary breaking exploits by His Spirit. God wants us to have more, be more and do more by the anointing and authority of His name…listen now.

Isaac trusted what he had been used to feeling. The hairy garment. The smell of the field. The gruff expectations of a hunter. We have to be careful of habit forming desires that lead us away from the certainty of Apostolic doctrine. Just because you feel it doesn’t mean you should say it, partake of it, or create a new belief system based on the power of that feeling. In the Kingdom of God it’s faith first, feelings second. “We walk by faith and not by sight.” II Corinthians 5:7.

He asked for venison and got goat. Venison was wild game associated over time with hunting deer. So, the taste of goat was disguised to resemble deer. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good. The taste test is failed when we trust the wrong feelings. We end up settling for doctrinal goat when God wants to give us the true venison of His will. We swallow the philosophies of the world as if they are the same thing as God’s unmatched promises. We pursue experiments in the name of freedom. We exercise liberties because we believe we can do what we want without consequence. We lose intimacy with God because we’ve been convinced that sensual things of the world are equal substitutes. We bless the things that God would curse. We evoke conclusions and content and commentary based on sensations, sensations that can cause us to lose our sensitivity to the Spirit. The more you repeatedly ignore the conscience the more desensitized one becomes to the wiles of the devil. We try things we should avoid. We incite patterns of behavior that could be avoided if we simply followed the instructions of the Word. The everlasting Word becomes subject to the temporary satisfaction.  Listen now…

We live in a world of demonic confusion, of unrighteous cultural conformity, and of deceptive religious corruption. Who’s going to stand against these end time foes? Who is going to make a difference in a world with so many choices? Who is going to pray when others remain silent? Who is going to stand and say something when others feel muted by intimidation? It takes a mother. Nobody loves you like a mother loves you. In the Kingdom of God, the mother is the origin of our faith that began in Jerusalem 2000 years ago. We are truly living in the Last Days. It is both exciting and sobering. The culmination of earthly kingdoms is speeding toward an Antichrist empire. An antichrist culture will precede the antichrist kingdom. Pride. Deception. Humanism. Idealism. Renewed polytheism. These are indicators of tribulation days ahead. Babylonian mythologies and modern twists of truth are converging. The seven heads and ten horns of Revelation 13 are likely coming together before our eyes. Economic tensions are rising. Political games are multiplying. Religious false doctrines are metastasizing. Yet, in the end we know that Christ will reign as Kings of Kings.
