I was playing this simple tune on my uke, and as the fire died out, I continued to sit and play as my surroundings became complete darkness. It is a picture of wrestling through the lonely, fearful, angry, dark places in life. It's about the ongoing, repeated decision to lay down those things before Jesus, to surrender them to him in the same way that he surrendered to his Father. In doing so - in giving him total control of our thoughts, decisions, and will - a space is created in which he is free to act and reveal his glory to those all around us. His kingdom is advanced as we lay ourselves down in the most vulnerable, difficult places in life.
