John Smithbaker joins Joe to discuss the roles of Fathers in society. They serve a very important role in all aspects of life and community.. So what happened?
On June 16, families and friends will gather to celebrate the courageous men in their lives on Father’s Day. Sadly, more than 17.8 million children live without a biological, step or adoptive father in the home in America, leaving them with no one to celebrate as rates of fatherlessness remain at a staggering all-time high in 2024.
Fathers play a crucial role in the home. When fathers are absent, there are significant consequences for the family, specifically for children. According to the National Fatherhood Initiative, children raised in a father-absent home are more likely to have behavioral problems, commit crimes, become pregnant as teens, abuse drugs and alcohol, drop out of school and face abuse or neglect.
Recognizing a great need in our nation,
John Smithbaker, author and founder of Fathers in the Field, is on a mission to stand in the gap for the fatherless.
