Kyrie Irving wants to play for Australia. He played for the US in 2016, and could have some hurdles before he dons the Aussie colors.

On the Mike & Joe edition of the Monday Joe Quills Show:  

Joe opened with Rick Derringer’s “Real American” and explained why he opened with Rick Derringer’s “Real American”. He felt that the Boston crowd at Monday afternoon’s Canada/Finland had a chance to respond to Canada booing the American anthem on Saturday night (though I understood why), but Canada also has more pride in their country than any American has in the USA.  

The NBA All-Star Game was this weekend. Mike didn’t watch but Joe found it interesting in the few moments that there was actual gameplay. But there is the potential of a new USA versus the World format next year.  

NCAA is looking to expand the basketball tourney from 68 to either 72 or 76 teams. Joe thinks you need to go to 96 teams with some additional conditions.  

Mike Trout will be playing mostly right fiend this upcoming season and unlike three years ago, he is okay with it.  

Alex Bregman signed with the Red Sox last week, and incumbent third baseman Rafael Devers says that he is playing third base this year. Bregman brings more flexibility in potentially playing second base, but he has better fielding stats at third than Devers.
