The CEOs of Twitter, Facebook and Google faced a grilling by Republican senators making unfounded allegations that the tech giants show anti-conservative bias.

The Senate Commerce Committee summoned Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg and Google's Sundar Pichai to testify at the hearing. The executives appeared remotely after being threatened with subpoenas.

California's process for imposing the death penalty “is now, and always has been, infected by racism,” Gov. Gavin Newsom declared Monday in a brief filed with the state Supreme Court.

In California, juries can impose the death penalty if they find that “aggravating factors” outweigh “mitigating factors.” The decision to sentence someone to death must be unanimous. But juries don't have to unanimously agree on each aggravating factor.

Twenty Republican former U.S. attorneys endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, citing that President Trump has threatened the rule of law, Reuters reported. All of the prosecutors, who have served under Republican presidents from Dwight Eisenhower to George W. Bush noted that they did not agree with the president's leadership style.

At least five people close to the vice president have tested positive for COVID-19 as recently as Saturday, while Pence, 61, has continued campaigning against federal quarantine guidelines.
