The details emerging from court are almost impossible to comprehend. A court has heard that Joshua Kerry walked into Ann Widdecombe's kitchen while she was eating lunch and struck her 21 times on the head with a hammer. He then allegedly tipped her out of her chair, took her wallet and drove away.

Twenty-one blows. Inside her own home. While she was simply sitting down to eat her lunch. Whatever the eventual verdict, the allegations presented in court paint a horrifying picture of brutality.

Tonight I'm asking a bigger question: What the hell has happened to Britain? This is not simply about one appalling killing. It is about the growing sense that our country has become harder, colder and more violent.

Too many elderly people are frightened inside their own homes. Too many criminals appear to have no respect for life. Too many decent, law-abiding people feel abandoned by a system that seems incapable of protecting them. But there is another deeply disturbing question that must also be examined.

Was Ann Widdecombe targeted because of who she was and what she believed? We do not yet know whether politics played any part in this killing. That is a matter for the evidence and ultimately the court. But the question cannot simply be dismissed. Was this solely a savage robbery, or was there also a political motive?

And if Ann Widdecombe was targeted because of her beliefs, what would that say about the toxic state of politics in modern Britain? For years, political opponents have been demonised rather than debated. Public figures are abused, threatened and treated as though they are not human beings. Social media rewards hatred, outrage and intimidation.

Have we allowed legitimate political disagreement to become poisonous? Have we created a climate where people are no longer merely challenged over their views, but despised because of them? How did we reach a point where an elderly woman could allegedly be attacked with such unimaginable violence in the sanctuary of her own kitchen?

Has the collapse of personal responsibility, family values, discipline and respect for authority created a society where acts of extreme violence are becoming increasingly normalised? Have politicians of every party failed in their most basic duty — to protect the public?

Tonight we will examine the shocking evidence heard in court, ask whether there is any indication that the killing was politically motivated, and debate what this dreadful case tells us about crime, public safety and the state of modern Britain. Is this what the United Kingdom has become? Or is there still a way back?

Is Andy Burnham the only rat attempting to jump back on a sinking ship?

The stench of hypocrisy at the TUC today was overwhelming. Burnham's back, and frankly, my vacuum cleaner has more charisma. At least the vacuum actually picks up the dirt instead of just talking about it!

The speech was all sizzle and no sausage. No detail, and—no surprise—he refused to take questions from the press again. Cowardice. He's got no mandate to lead this country. If he's so sure of these "big ideas," he should test them in a General Election now.

Instead, he's standing there thanking Blunket, Beckett, and bloody Neil Kinnock. If those are your mentors, God help us all!

I'm sure "Burnham the Showman" struck absolute fear into the heart of Nigel Farage... NOT! I give him until Christmas before he's replaced by a lettuce. Labour are finished. Give us a General Election NOW!

With apologies to Elaine Paige and Andrew Lloyd Webber, but as England faces our old enemy Argentina in the World Cup today, it seems the perfect time to reflect on the fall of Keir Starmer.

The truth is, the British people never truly warmed to this man.

Between the "Dalek" delivery and the charisma of a paper bag, he has remained fundamentally out of touch. It was sickening to witness him today, still in total denial, actually claiming he has left the UK in a better place than he found it!

While the Commons engaged in a sick pantomime of back-slapping and "in-jokes," they ignored the dreadful reality of the country. In a week where Ann Widdecombe has been assassinated, our nation has never been more divided.

Now, chilling details are emerging from a Zia Yusuf emergency press conference about a "kill list" targeting other Reform politicians. How have we reached a state where there is such visceral hate toward politicians on the right? Starmer, his party, and their supporters in the mainstream press have spent years fuelling this fire.

Today should not have been a celebratory swan song. Starmer should have proposed that the Commons sit for another week to address the consequences of Ann's murder and demand answers on how the "broken Britain" he leaves behind will actually be fixed.

With Nigel Farage now facing ten death threats a day, democracy itself is under attack. It's time for the truth. Join in and give me your views.

BREAKING NEWS: Counter Terrorism Police have now taken over the investigation into the brutal murder of Ann Widdecombe.

Only days ago, Nigel Farage argued that there were serious questions surrounding Ann's death and warned against dismissing the possibility of a politically motivated attack. His comments sparked fierce criticism from politicians, police figures and much of the mainstream media, who accused him of jumping to conclusions while detectives urged restraint.

Now everything has changed. Counter Terrorism officers are leading the investigation after what police describe as "new evidence", with the main suspect having been re-arrested under terrorism legislation while detectives pursue multiple lines of enquiry.

Britain is in shock. Ann Widdecombe has been murdered. A suspect has been arrested, and the police are investigating. They have urged everyone not to speculate about the motive—and neither will I.

But another question must be asked. Why, within hours of Ann's death, were some on the Left unable to show even the most basic human decency?

Peter Tatchell described Ann Widdecombe as a "bigot" before later deleting his post and apologising. Adam Boulton also apologised after describing the murdered Ann as "a spinster" and "an old maid". Imagine if those comments had been made about a murdered Labour politician. Would the reaction have been the same?

This isn't about claiming those remarks had anything to do with the crime. There is no evidence of that. It is about asking whether our political culture has become so tribal that opponents are no longer treated as fellow human beings.

This is also the third serving or former MP to be murdered in roughly the last decade. Jo Cox. Sir David Amess. Now Ann Widdecombe. Nigel Farage has recently warned about the security of politicians and the threats they face. Is Britain becoming a more dangerous place for anyone prepared to stand up in public life?

Today I'll examine the facts, challenge the double standards, and ask whether Britain has crossed a dangerous line where political hatred is replacing political debate.
