- Vancouver has a new record on its hands! Unfortunately, it’s a record for the highest gas prices we’ve ever seen in Canada. Also, Trudeau has an Amazon related announcement to make right here at home.
- Comedian Michelle Wolf’s brutal assessment of the Trump administration was the talk of Saturday night’s White House Correspondents Dinner. She took aim at women in Trump’s administration - and particularly - Sarah Sanders, who sat on stage stone-faced - while Wolf savaged her career and her looks.
- In today’s episode of “ugh humans are the worst,” the internet is in an uproar because a vegan man was critical of a vegan stranger. What was her crime? She bought an ice cream cone for a crying child. Think about it - was he right or was he wrong?
Chapter 4: View from Victoria
- A big step forward for LNG Canada, the $40 billion LNG project on the northwest coast. Consortium (Shell, plus korean, japanese and chinese partners) named U.S. and Japanese firms as prime contractors on the $14 billion job of building the terminal in Kitimat
- There’s talk Amazon will take space at 402 Dunsmuir street as it continues its expansion in Vancouver. It has already signed a lease for an office in that building. There’s also talk Amazon will occupy another downtown building - possibly the old Canada Post building on West Georgia.
- Yesterday, the price of gas in Vancouver reached record levels; 161.9 a litre, which is the highest price ever, in Canada. What can we expect today - and why are the prices so high?
- Metro Vancouver Board does another vote, and the results were unanimous to take back their decision. It was pressure from you, the people, which helped overturn their asinine decision to have this be something brought to the table in the first place.
Chapter 8: Squire on Sports
- The Pacers put forth a valiant effort this series but it wasn't enough to stop Lebron and his domination in Game 7.
- Thousands of people attended yesterday’s #TorontoStrong vigil. A ceremony was held at Mel Lastman Square, near where the attack took place.
- The stereotype of the hedonistic, hypercompetitive young man who engages in dangerous and risky activities may still remain, but it is no longer a true picture of a masculine man. This has even led to reports that the life expectancy gap between men and women is quickly shrinking.
- According to Bloomberg, the ski resort town has overtaken Vancouver to have the highest average house prices in Canada. The price of a detached home in Whistler sits at $1.67 million, 4% higher than Vancouver.
- Amazon is all over the news, primarily in regards to Justin Trudeau meeting with them to discuss expanding in Vancouver. Niki Reitmayer is at the scene at the old post office on Georgia digging up the details.
