Bloggers and so-called ‘influencers’. Who are these people who make big bucks posting to millions of followers on their Instagram, Twitter and YouTube accounts?

Global News reporter Michelle Morton takes a closer look at the new age of Marketing and why some describe it as the "Wild West."

- The SAG awards were the latest talk of Hollywood. The event included a cast of presenters who were almost all female.

- The latest poll in B.C. Politics shows that John Horgan has a huge lead versus his Liberal and Green Party Rivals. 

Chapter 11:

- It is Red Tape Awareness weak and signs of excessive regulation are being exposed during the Paperweight Awards. 

Chapter 12: 

- Just like a scene out of 'The Untouchables' local bars have become victims of 'whiskey raids' in an attempt to seize supposed contraband booze, giving us a strange reminder of the days of 

Chapter 13: 

- Online Marketing and Social Media has become a career for many people. Some call it the 'Wild West' of marketing. Michelle Morton brings you a piece regarding these so called online 'influencers'. 

A CTV news story exposing the dealings of the marijuana mini-mall near Robson Square have angered Vancouverites.

It’s Chaos on the Shelves at some Whole Foods stores around North America.  It seems that ever since Amazon took over the grocery chain, they’ve been running out of stock, seeing empty shelves and having customers asking WHY?

Jon is applauding the Aquariums decision to ban all dolphins and cetaceans at their facilities.  The time and public opinion has caught up to the Aquarium and they could no longer continue to do the good work that they do when being held back by the debate over keeping these large animals in tanks.  But, the CEO tried to blame the media and animal rights groups as the reason for the decision which Jon takes an issue with.

It’s being called a ‘game changer’ in the fight against the opioid overdose crisis.  The city of Surrey has developed software that looks at data from dispatch calls in real time for signs of overdose ‘clusters.’  The software issues email alerts to first responders if there are lots of overdoses in the same area in a short time period.  Surrey’s fire chief Len Garis says it’s a first for North America.

As of Jan. 22, passengers won’t be allowed to smoke on BC Ferries.  Spokesperson Deborah Marshall says the ban doesn’t just apply to cigarettes – e-cigarettes are also not allowed, meaning ‘vaping’ is also against the rules.  She says officials won’t be cracking down, though.

Is Andrew Weaver’s threat to bring down the government over LNG for real? Or is it just another pillow fight?  Premier John Horgan heads out tomorrow on his Asian trade trip to China, Korea and Japan and plans to talk LNG with partners for Shell’s Kitimat-based LNG Canada project.  The Vancouver Sun's Vaughn Palmer is here with his take on the day's headlines.

Well you might be dumb enough to get yourself involved in the “Tide Pod Challenge” but going forward your idiotic escapades are going to be for your eyes only.  Facebook and Youtube are starting to pull all the video’s associated with the ridiculous challenge of swallowing dish detergent pods, and it’s probably about time!  Tim Dickert has the tech report.

In order to continue the conversation on ride-hailing in BC, we decided to explore what kind of employment experience it could be for British Columbians. In order to do so, we reached out to Uber drivers around the world. We found them through the Reddit Uber driver community, as well as private networking groups for Uber on Facebook. We asked them to share their experiences as drivers with us - both the good and the bad. Drivers were selected based on geography (as the aim was to represent an international community of drivers) as opposed to their views on the company. We did not know what they would say until they were interviewed. Niki Reitmayer spoke to those drivers about what it’s like to work for this controversial ride-sharing company.
