The 1000 Residents of Cache Creek will be allowed to return home this afternoon, 11 days after the province's largest wildfire forced them to flee.  Officials with the Thompson-Nicola Regional District says the imminent threat has diminished, even though the nearby Ashcroft fire continues to grow and burn out of control.

Later today British Columbia will have its first NDP government in 16 years, and a BCer's should get used to a change in conversation.

The Canadian government often comes under fire for how veterans are treated when they return home from war...but what about how they’re treated after they pass? A report by the Canadian Press shows thousands of graves belonging to Canadian war veterans have fallen into a state of disrepair. A new veterans affairs audit shows a lack of federal funding is to blame for the “tens of thousands” of graves that are in desperate need of maintenance.

The wildfire situation is still at the top of the news.  Kamloops is the centre of relief efforts for the evacuees right now, and officials are asking that anyone who does have a place to stay should hold off on going to an emergency shelter right away.

Is it time to start spending money before wildfires break out?  There are ways to prepare areas so that if/when a fire breaks out, it can be controlled a lot easier.

On Sunday, the internet erupted with the announcement that the new doctor in the show Doctor Who will be a woman. Jodi Whittaker will play the 13th doctor - this is the first time there has been a female doctor since the show debuted in 1963. However, some fans of the show expressed their disappointment, saying the show was just caving to politically correct social trends.

Weather is still playing a crucial role in the battle against the 160 wildfires across British Columbia that have displaced more than 37,000 people.  Thousands of people have been evacuated out of Williams Lake and the surrounding areas as a windy Saturday blew a number of fires closer to the city.
